My fingers danced across the keyboard as I typed, the keys clicking with each hit. I blew some hair out of my face and sighed in relief. Another resume; done, I thought proudly as I pushed the laptop to the other end of the table. Maybe this time, the improved vocabulary would score me some more points and I'd actually get the job.

"Congratulations Typetastic," Ed's familiar voice song behind me. I turned around and stuck my tongue out. Shutting the screen, I turned my full attention to the boy. His hair was wild and static teased it into an unusual fashion. His hair tie had a fallen out, and overall he looks like a complete mess. I snickered and stood up, pushing my chair in and scanning his body in it's entirety. His pajamas weren't that much better off, I decided. Wrinkled and floating off the leg from the same static that messed up his hair.

"What are you lookin' at?" The blonde grumbled.

"Oh, nothing," I retorted with a smug grin. "It's just that you're clearly not a morning person." He reached for the coffee pot and began to brew himself a strong cup.

"Well, it's hard to be happy in the mornings when the sun isn't even up yet."

I couldn't resist giggling. I released him from my grasp and approached the pantry, digging out some pancake mix and setting it on the table. "No, the sun is up," I chirped with a smile, digging out a bowl and pouring the powder into it. Ed groaned and instinctively retrieved some milk, dropping it on the counter with a thud. "No, it's not," he retorted grumpily. I measured a cup and a half of milk and poured it into the mixing bowl, taking a large spoon and mixing it with ease. "Yes, it is. You're awake," I sang in a peppy, singsong tone.

The boy managed the smallest of smirks and turned to the coffee pot, flipping it off and grabbing a cup. He rolled his eyes and poured the liquid gold-or, rather, liquid bronze-into the mug and sipped heartily. "Agh, stop with the jokes 'bout my hair," he grunted unhappily. I shrugged and pressed my fist into his arm; a lighthearted punch. "You're such a grump."

"Me? A grump? No, you're  just to peppy."

I gasped dramatically and poorly imitated him. "My name's Ed Elric, and I'm totally not a grump! Me? No never!"

He narrowed his (gorgeous) ochre eyes. "...I don't like you," he announced flatly. I gasped, pretending to be hurt. I flipped on the stovetop and slid the pan under the flame, pouring out the batter at my leisure. "I'm hurt," I sniffed. My tone dropped to normal and I motioned my head to the cabinet. "Get me a plate shorty," I demanded. He looked (up/down) at me with slit eyes. "I'm not short!" He exclaimed, he reached up and easily pulling a plate out and setting it next to the stovetop. I flipped one of the pancakes and carried one off the pan and onto the plate with the spatula. "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea-" I started to hum, but that buzzkill cut me off.

"Mold and mildew, (Y/n), mold and mildew. Also I want two pancakes," he hummed.

I scoffed with a tone of disbelief. "Not with that attitude, you won't! You don't get pancakes if you destroy my childlike spirit!"

He managed another smirk and flipped the second pancake onto the plate for me, retrieving a second one and piling two pancakes onto it. I faltered and watched him pull up a chair and a table; with my pancakes.

I approached him with a scowl, taking a seat next to him and staring at him in the eyes. "What... What do you think your doing with my pancakes?" I asked with a threatening edge to my voice. He looked at me blankly. "I'm eating it," he shot, literally.

My hands gripped the plate and I swiped it from him. "Don't be a smart alec! Those were mine!" I sneered, sliding the plate to my side. He raised his eyebrows. "We can split it," he suggested. My gaze averted from him to the plate, and back to the plate. "You're ridicu- fine," I caved easily. It was just so hard to say no to the runt, my runt.

He wore an accomplished look on his features as he dragged the plate to the space between us and we both dug in.

Needless to say, we ate all of it. I leaned back in my chair and sighed happily. "Ahh, I love syrup," I purred blissfully. Ed hummed in agreement. "You make good pancakes even with the box mix," he declared. I sat up and flushed the tiniest bit. "What can I say?" I asked, dropping my hands on the table. "Mornings are always better with pancakes."

He grinned and took my hand. "Mornings are always better with you."
