Ellen's POV:

We arrived at the nearest emergency room and Patrick admitted me. I sat down in the waiting room area as he checked me in. From a distance, I could hear him talk to the worker at the front desk and say, "Hi. I have a 36-year-old female. The name? Ellen. Ellen Pompeo. Yeah, she's thrown up three times within the past few hours and we have no clue why.". I loved how he has treated me over the past few days. If I was still with Chris, we would've made sick me go talk to the front desk.

Patrick walked back over to me and sat down and said, "They'll come to get you in a few minutes". I smiled at him and he smiled back and I placed my head on his shoulder and rested my eyes.

About 15 minutes later, a nurse from a distance said my name. "Ellen?". I took my head off of Patrick's shoulder and I stood up and we walked towards the nurse and we went into an observation room. I sat on the bed as Patrick sat on the chair and she asked me, "So, what brings you into here today?"

I took a big sigh and said, "Well I've thrown up three times within the past I'd say 3-4 hours. I've never thrown up like since I had the stomach flu but I don't think it's that since I feel fine, up until I throw up."

The nurse took my temperature and that was normal, 97.6. Everything else came back within normal limits, blood pressure, everything. She then suggested, "Well why don't we get a quick flu test just to make sure. Have you eaten or drank anything foreign?

I pondered on that question for a bit and said, "No. I mean we went out drinking last night with a few friends but I've never thrown up after a hangover, I've only had a headache."

"Okay then.", the nurse said sighing, "Let's get you a flu test so we can roll that out. If that comes back negative, I only have one other option.".

She got the swab out of the package and swirled the swab around my mouth and she went to go get my saliva tested.

After waiting about 15 minutes, she came back with the test results. "Well, you're negative. Now here is my last question. When was the last time you practiced sexual intercourse?".

I looked at Patrick and then back to her and replied to her question, "Umm, well last night and around 3-4 weeks ago.".

She reached into the cabinet above her head and said, "This could be a sign of morning sickness. Since it's been a few weeks, I'm going to have you pee on this stick. I'll let you go into the bathroom and then give it about 3 minutes and the stick should either have 1 line, indicating you're not pregnant or 2 lines, which will let us know you're pregnant.".

I grabbed the stick from her hand and she left the room. I turned to Patrick and asked, "Did we use protection?".

He turned his head back to me and replied, "Honestly, I don't think so.".

I sighed and left the room to go to the bathroom and I peed on the stick. I went back to the exam room with the test and placed it on the counter. Patrick and I sat in silence for the whole 3 minutes.

After the 3 minutes were up the nurse came back into the room and looked at the test that was on the counter. She put a pair of gloves on and picked up the test and said...
