Several weeks have gone by since a raven brought a letter to the village, and since then the villagers have been on edge. Everyone is preparing for the unknown, which has been frustrating Lyra to the maximum. Nobody was telling her what's going on, it's obviously bad and they think she's to young to handle it.

Later that night Lyra decided to ask her parents again and this time more sternly.

Lyra's POV

I laid in bed unable to sleep when I heard a noise coming from downstairs, realizing that's it's my parents who are still awake I climb out of bed and make my way down the staircase. I blink as my eyes adjust to the change in light. Looking around the downstairs area I see my dad sitting by a table, with his face in his hands, and my mom is busy boiling water on a fire. They didn't even notice that I entered the room until I sat down in a chair opposite my dad.

Without giving them a warning I asked " What's going on?" I said it as sincerely as possible, my dad looked up at me and took my hands he spoke openly
"A few weeks ago word was sent to us that Noxus was attacking areas closer and closer to Ionia, and we made the mistake of taking the warning lightly, now Noxus in coming at us in a fast pace and we can't stop them, they have strong forces and rumors have even gone as far as saying that they train children to fight in their war ", My dad's face instantly saddens as he said that last part, my mom came up to us and placed a hand on my dad's shoulder, he let's my hands go with one of his and places it on my mom's hand that's resting on his shoulder, with a sad tone he says "How can we fight children Serana? , probably no older than our very own daughter" My mom doesn't say anything but just kiss him on the cheek.

I instantly regret know the truth, our land has lived in peace for so long, I've never heard stories of war and now Noxus the most brutal land of them all was coming to take our peace.

I jumped up from the table and ran to the door, I had to go tell Sett what was happening. My mom says quickly before I make my way out the house
" You had to know eventually Lyra, I know it's scary but we'll keep you safe, it's going to be alright" but somehow I knew she couldn't promise that, I look at her with a side eye before opening the door and walking outside, it's a warm night and I can hear all kinds of creatures of the night singing their soft lullabies. I take in a deep breath before making my way to Sett's bedroom window, he's our neighbor so I never had to go far to find him. I walk up to the window and start knocking softly, almost immediately the curtains gets pulled back and I meet Sett's sleepy eyes , he opens the window quietly not to wake his mom. "What's wrong Lyra?"

Sett's POV

As I look at Lyra I can see worry spreading over her face and it looks like she's struggling to form the words to answer me, so before she could, I said "Do you want to come in?" Without hesitation she nods her head, I take her hand and help her through the window, she immediately sat down on the floor with her back against the bed, I just looked at her for a few seconds without saying anything. It pains me to see her this distressed, but it was clear to me now that her parents has caught her up to speed on what was happening,

I sigh and sit down next to her, before continuing softly " Your parents told you what's going on, didn't thay?" Her eyes look confused as she realize that I've known this whole time, I quickly continued not giving her a chance to say anything
" Yes, I'm sorry I have known about the oncoming war the whole time, I didn't want to tell you because I don't want you to worry or be scared" I watch her intently wondering how she'll react to my betrayal, but nothing, just a single tear rolls down her face. It made my heart ache to see her sad and I quickly grab her hand, she says softly barely audible " What will we do Sett , I can't lose my parents or you".
I said softly while squeezing her hand " You won't, remember you have me forever, never one without the other".

Lyra's POV

It's a week later and we can already start to hear the war approaching us and at night you can see bright flashes of fire in the far distance. Our people have tried to prepare for it as best they know how. But we won't know if it's enough until the time comes.
