Two days later, after word had spread throughout the southern provinces, the Order of Shadow came upon the grisly scene. Their leader, Zed, knew this area had no tactical significance.
This massacre was intended as a message. Noxus would show no mercy.
A flickering glint of steel caught his eye. A child of no more than ten lay in the mud, leveling his broken sickle at the master assassin, bloody knuckles straining white.
The boy's eyes harbored a pain that belied his age, yet still burned with all the fury of a hardened warrior. This tenacity was not something that could be taught.
Zed saw in this child, this abandoned Noxian survivor, a weapon that could be turned against those who had sent him here to die.
The assassin held out his hand and took Kayn's hand lifting him out of the ruins.Lyra couldn't do anything, she was frozen and could only watch as the very frightening leader of the Shadow Order take Kayn away.
Lyra's POV
Suddenly a hand comes around my head grabbing my mounth and keeping it shut, I start to struggle to get free until I hear "Calm down daughter" . Instant relief wash over me as I hear my mother's angelic voice, I turn around to face her and tears fill both our eyes, she grabs me and hugs me tighter than ever before, small sobs escape my mouth as my mother softly rubes over my hair with her hand.
I move away from her and turn to where the assassins were, they had left.
I look back to my mother, she had a bad injury on her arm , but she is alive and I couldn't be happier. "Where is father?" I ask excitedly, but by the expression she got on her face I didn't want to know, "He didn't make it my dear" She said while looking at her feet, "But know that he died a honorable death, while fighting for our home and for us". Her voice breaks while she speaks."But he would want us to leave now, it's not safe here anymore". I felt my heart shatter , how can my mother be so strong. A sob escapes me while I try to form words to comfort my mother and myself. "I'm so sorry Mommy" she touches my face and says "We have to go now , we will mourn later, he would want us to be safe above all else."
She gently takes my hand and leads us to our home or what's left of it, in the background I can see Sett's house, I ask eagerly "What about Sett and his mom?" My mother just shook her head and says " I haven't seen them, I'm sorry dear" , "Grab all you can that will be of value, then we need to go".
