Lyra's POV
The morning sun started creeping out slowly, shinning through the mist.
I knew that it was time, slowly I lift my head and try to take in my surroundings, my hands were cold from the early morning chill. It has now been two days since Noxus fell upon us.I felt a lump form in my throat and I quickly swallow it down, I don't have time to cry, I need to be brave now and go find my family. I rise to my feet, and as far as I can see are bodies and limbs scattered all over the place. Not a single living soul. Everything is in ruins, my home and everything I knew, destroyed.
I started slowly walking towards a nearby river, to my surprise the river seemed quite clean, all the blood must have washed further down by now, my throat was dry and I desperately wanted to rinse my face.
I haven't seen any movement thus far, until something catches my eye, it looked like a piece of armor has moved, I carefully make my way to where the movement came from and to my surprise it was a boy, he was covered in blood, I wasn't sure how much of it was his own, his eyes were closed but I could see his chest slowly moving up and down, so he was definitely alive.
I reached out and touch his shoulder, he got a fright by my sudden touch and grabbed my arm, he must have been just as traumatized as me if not even more. I panicked and quickly said " It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you" , Still not convinced I continued, "I promise". He then slowly let go of my arm. It looked like he wanted to say something, but his throat is to dry. I left his side and hurried to get some water.
When I got back I took his head in my one hand and let some water run into his mouth with the other, I gave him a minute to catch his breath, then asked "Feeling better?" He nodded his head then spoke softly, "T...hank you , but w...hy are you helping me?" Of course he would think that , we are supposed to be enemies, but in my eyes he doesn't deserve to be here anymore than I do.
"You are not my enemy, you do not deserve to be here, no child should fight the war of adults." His expression saddens, I can almost feel the pain radiating of, of him from what he had done and witnessed here. Without even thinking about it I grab him and hug him tightly, "What's your name?" I asked softly, "Sh...ieda Kayn, but... you can call me Kayn if you want." I give him a small smile, pleased that he share him name with me, "My name is Lyra, it's nice to meet you Kayn". He returned a small smile to me. A great sadness come over me as I said "I have to go look for my family, I will come back for you". Kayn just nodded.I slowly got up and started walking towards my house, I looked over my shoulder one last time and smile at Kayn, but then on the horizon I see what looked like shadows. I quickly run to where I was hiding, I can't get Kayn out of here now or surely we both will get killed, he has a better chance of playing dead.
