Lyra's POV

The morning sun started creeping out slowly, shinning through the mist.
I knew that it was time, slowly I lift my head and try to take in my surroundings, my hands were cold from the early morning chill. It has now been two days since Noxus fell upon us.

I felt a lump form in my throat and I quickly swallow it down, I don't have time to cry, I need to be brave now and go find my family. I rise to my feet, and as far as I can see are bodies and limbs scattered all over the place. Not a single living soul. Everything is in ruins, my home and everything I knew, destroyed.

I started slowly walking towards a nearby river, to my surprise the river seemed quite clean, all the blood must have washed further down by now, my throat was dry and I desperately wanted to rinse my face.

I haven't seen any movement thus far, until something catches my eye, it looked like a piece of armor has moved, I carefully make my way to where the movement came from and to my surprise it was a boy, he was covered in blood, I wasn't sure how much of it was his own, his eyes were closed but I could see his chest slowly moving up and down, so he was definitely alive.

I reached out and touch his shoulder, he got a fright by my sudden touch and grabbed my arm, he must have been just as traumatized as me if not even more. I panicked and quickly said " It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you" , Still not convinced I continued, "I promise". He then slowly let go of my arm. It looked like he wanted to say something, but his throat is to dry. I left his side and hurried to get some water.

When I got back I took his head in my one hand and let some water run into his mouth with the other, I gave him a minute to catch his breath, then asked "Feeling better?" He nodded his head then spoke softly, "T...hank you , but w...hy are you helping me?" Of course he would think that , we are supposed to be enemies, but in my eyes he doesn't deserve to be here anymore than I do.
"You are not my enemy, you do not deserve to be here, no child should fight the war of adults." His expression saddens, I can almost feel the pain radiating of, of him from what he had done and witnessed here. Without even thinking about it I grab him and hug him tightly, "What's your name?" I asked softly, "Sh...ieda Kayn, but... you can call me Kayn if you want." I give him a small smile, pleased that he share him name with me, "My name is Lyra, it's nice to meet you Kayn". He returned a small smile to me. A great sadness come over me as I said "I have to go look for my family, I will come back for you". Kayn just nodded.

I slowly got up and started walking towards my house, I looked over my shoulder one last time and smile at Kayn, but then on the horizon I see what looked like shadows. I quickly run to where I was hiding, I can't get Kayn out of here now or surely we both will get killed, he has a better chance of playing dead.
