Talon's POV

I just got home after finishing my morning patrols and as I walk through the door my father's personal assistant walks to me in a rush, although she always looks in a rush. She's a petite young lady with straight brown hair and soft hazel eyes.

She reaches me and quickly starts to speak "The general is looking for you Sir" she says while touching her hair nervously. My presence always seem to make her nervous.

"Thank you Tanya" I say politely, I watch as her cheeks turn red and then she quickly turns on her heels and rushes away. I then made my way to my father's office, as I approach I see the door is slightly open, so I knock softly.

"Come inside" I hear him say with a deep and professional voice, I push the door lightly and walk inside. His office is big, on the one side is a fire place and two chairs and on the otherside of the room is his dark wood desk in front of a big window, the desk is full of paperwork that my father is busy working through.

"You were looking for me ?" I say on entry, I see his posture relax when he looked at me, he's probably relieved that it's just me and not someone that's here for business.

"Sit" he gestures with a smile.

I sit down on the comfortable black leather chair and fold my arms on the desk.

"I need you to do something for me, and I entrust you with this, because anyone else will look at this as an immediate threat, but I want you to look into this without doing anything rash" he says calmly.

"Alright, what is it ?" I  answer.

He then continued "There has been word about a mage, she stopped at a vendor in the marketplace and it's said that strong magic radiates from her, she hasn't done anything as of yet to show any from of threat to us, but I want you to investigate and keep a safe distance"

"Will do" I say as I got up out the chair.

"Talon this is serious don't fool around and don't kill her until I say so" Father says before I walk out the office.

I won't go against my father , he's trusting me with this job because he knows anyone else will just kill the mage without question, whether she's done anything or not. I walk out the back door through the kitchen and grab a apple on my way out, I move quickly while eating my apple, hoping that she's still at the marketplace, it will make my job easier if I don't have to track her down first as well.

As I reach the market I go to the vendor who reported her, he's a older mage himself but he is very loyal to my father, he has charms that can sense how strong a mage or sorcerer is and informs us if something out of the usual shows up, like this.

"Hi Sicero" I said and I didn't have to say much, he already knew why I was here.

"I'm glad your father sent you, she's a very sweet girl, I almost didn't report her but the power coming from her is something to be concerned about" He said while pointing to a young women, standing by a stall with freshly baked bread on display, I can't see her face as she's wearing a hood over her head but I can see her platinum blonde hair hanging over her one shoulder in a loose plait. She has a hourglass figure and beautiful long legs, and that ass.. it's so perfect.

Fuck... I'm ogeling over a sorceress. 'Focus Talon!' I thought to myself, this is serious and sorceresses are creepy, they have way to many trick up their sleeve for my liking. While in thought I almost didn't notice that she's left the stall that she was standing at, and slipped around a corner into a alley way, I quickly hurry not to lose sight of her. I follow slowly behind her, the alley is narrow and long and there's not many things for me to hide behind, suddenly she stops and reaches for her pocket, I lunge forward with my blade in my hand ready to hold it at her throat incase she was planning a attack. As I did that she spun around and held a glowing magic blade to my throat, we both stood there holding each other in place with our blades ready to strike, she was no match for me, and somehow I think she knows that, but she doesn't back down. We're both silent, waiting to see what the next move is going to be.

Standing this close I can see her face perfectly. I looked at her eyes, they are a beautiful shade of purple and her lashes hover over them so perfectly, her nose is narrow and the bridge of her nose is concave a bit, which made it look small and feminine and her lips are full and a beautiful shade of pink.

Before I could continue my visual examination of her face, she says with a stern tone, "Why are you following me?" While pulling her eyebrows together and forming a little angry curl on her nose. I burst out laughing, her attempt to look serious and angry is so cute that I couldn't help it.

"What is wrong with you ? Stop laughing!" She says while looking and my still smiling face in confusion.

"You look like a little bunny who got her carrot taken away, when you're mad" I say while trying to control my laughter. She drops her hand from my throat and the magical blade disappears from it, with that I remove my hand and stick my blade back into it's holster on my leg. She huffs and try to walk past me, but I grab her arm and say "I got sent to potentially kill you which means there will be others, if you want to survive I suggest you don't leave and listen to me"

"Why would anyone want to kill me ? I'm harmless, remember!" She says while crossing her arms angrily.

" Why is there strong power coming from you?" I ask softly, she looks confused like she doesn't understand my question, so I continue "A mage at the market reported you, he sensed that you had strong magic radiating from you" I try to keep my voice down incase the walls have ears.

"I...I don't understand, I'm not a strong mage.. I've never even had proper training, he must be mistaken" she whispers, she drops her head and her facial features saddens, I think I feel bad for her for some reason.. I don't usually care about other people's problems.
"Okay listen, the general instructed me to keep a eye on you, so the chances that someone will harm you are slim, not many people are brave enough to cross blades with me" I said to ease her mind.

"Why would you help me?, you don't even know me" she says.

"I'm not helping you, I'm simply giving you information, also if you do anything stupid and end up being a threat to us, I will kill you..." I answer. She twist her mouth as if she's going to say something and then pause. And after a moment she says "Very well then" and started walking back to the marketplace.

I wanted to stop her again , I wanted to know her name and where she comes from and why she got sad. I was hungry for more information about her but I knew that if I am going to have to end her life, that it will be easier if I don't know anything. I'll just do my job and keep a eye on her, and this time from a distance like instructed.
