You panted, your legs threatening to collapse underneath you. But you kept running, stumbling over rocks as the footsteps that clumsily followed yours came closer and closer. You coughed, your lungs aching from your irregular breathing. You doubted you could run for much longer.
You were so close to home, so, so close-if you could make it out of this forest-
A vine wrapped around your foot, and you fell to the ground with a loud thud, already feeling blood spurt out of your nose. Ouch.
The footsteps dragged closer and closer and you turned to face your fate. Rotting skin peeling off its bones, the zombie growled in glee, just about smart enough to recognise that it could eat you. You gulped nervously. Welp. You had a good life.
Red flashed in front of your eyes as something swooped in, slashing the zombie in half with a sword. The zombie cried out in pain, grasping at the air and it slowly fell and turning limp. You looked up. "Techno?"
"Yo," he answered, as monotone and cool as ever, even when he had literally just saved your life. "Oh...ouch." He pointed at your nose, and you wiped it with the back of your hand, trying not to grimace at the blood. Rolling his eyes, he held out a hand for you to hold, but you spied a small smile tugging at his lips. The stupid idiot was never good at hiding his emotions. You took his hand, sighing when your legs buckled under the pressure of standing. Well, that was what running desperately for ages did to you.
Sighing, he leant forward and effortlessly lifted you into his arms, taking care not to accidentally brush against your sore nose. You blushed, your mouth already opening to tell him to let you go-you could walk fine, you weren't that tired-
He shut you up quickly with a kiss.
"Bleh, you taste like blood." He stuck out his tongue as if he was disgusted.
"Shut up," you answered back, laughing.
"This is how you treat your knight in shining armour?"
"You're wearing a cloak."
"Bruh." Techno sighed, shaking his head. However, he held you closer to him, and you snuggled contentedly into his cloak.
"Thank you," you murmured into the fabric, already feeling your eyelids droop.
He kissed your head gently, and you let the warmth from that flood through your body before falling asleep.
