Friday night arrived, and I texted Mia: "Pick you up at 8."
Downstairs, Jasiah asked, "Where are you going?"
"Santiago with Mia," I replied.
Jasiah raised an eyebrow. "Never seen you this happy, Lucas. Don't blow it."
Mia's P.O.V
I picked out a black crop top, gray sweatpants, and white Air Force ones.
After my bath, I applied makeup, reflecting on Hailey's words.
Lucas arrived with roses and a card reading "I'm sorry."
We drove to Santiago, a popular Los Angeles ice cream spot.
Inside, I chose strawberry cookie with sprinkles; Lucas opted for vanilla.
Seated near the window, Lucas turned to me, his eyes locked on mine.
"Mia, I have something to tell you," he said.
"Ok," I replied.
"I've known since the day I met you...you're the one. Mia Bella Mai, I love you."
My heart skipped a beat.
"I love you too, Lucas Santíago Graham."
Lucas beamed.
"Mia, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes," I said.
Elated, Lucas smiled.
At 10, we left Santiago.
Outside my house, Lucas stopped me.
Our eyes met, and he leaned in for a kiss.
"Goodbye," we whispered in unison.
I entered my house, and Lucas drove off.
