I spent the day locked in my room, replaying yesterday's events. "Love Someone" played in the background, but the lyrics unsettled me. "When you love someone, you open up your heart..." But what about when they break it?

Thoughts of Mikah and Brianna flooded my mind. They said sorry, but it was too late. I recalled Dua Lipa's "IDGAF" and sang along: "You say sorry, but it's too late now... I don't give a fuck."

Mikah's betrayal still stung. My friends knew, but never told me. Why continue dating someone who likes someone else? My mom taught me better.

Exhausted from crying, I drifted off to sleep, worrying about facing Lucas at school tomorrow. It would be awkward around him and his friends.

The next morning, I arrived at school with a mix of emotions.

As I walked down the hallway, I saw Lucas leaning against his locker, looking handsome and calm. Our eyes met, and I felt a flutter.

"Hey," he said softly.

"Hey," I replied, trying to sound casual.

Lucas's friends nodded in greeting, but I sensed a subtle tension.

We exchanged awkward small talk, but the unspoken tension lingered.

Convo:

(Lucas texts me during class)

Lucas: Hey, can we talk?

Mia: What's up?

Lucas: About yesterday

Mia: What about it?

Lucas: I wanted to make sure you're okay

Mia: I'm fine

Lucas: Really?

Mia: Yeah
