The Unpredictable Fire Adventurers [General Iroh II x Reader] [Legend of Korra]

The ground rumbles beneath Iroh and Haku, giving them an ominous feeling. Iroh's focused expression falters at the thought of you being involved with the earth's trembles. He can never hold his excess of emotions when it comes to you. Despite years of training in the army, concern still plagues him greatly at thought of your safety.

"What was that?!" Haku asks, exasperated. 

Iroh stifles his worries, clearing his throat before responding. "I don't know, but it came from the chief' side of the palace."

Haku hums in thought, "Isn't that where the Spirit Oasis is?"

They stare at each other as they come to a conclusion. After having searched for you for half an hour, they've had no luck. You, Korra, and Hieu are nowhere to be found with Unalaq also missing, but the servants explained how he kept busy with his schedule. It would make total sense, but with the group currently visiting the oasis, Iroh found Unalaq's absence odd.

"You think they went there for Korra?" Iroh questions.

"It might be a possibility."

"Let's go then!" Iroh exclaims as he resumes to rush in the direction of the trembles' source.

Haku attempts to follow but a grim thought enters his mind, causing him to halt. "Wait... Iroh, I need to get Fey out of here."

"B-But!" Iroh frowns as he turns to face his friend. "Fey isn't a target! She will be okay! It's probably Korra and [Name] they're after!"

"I know! But Fey is pregnant. I can't just leave her alone if they are attacking the palace."

Iroh cannot fathom the change in priority and he wears a look of sheer desperation. "HAKU PLEASE! THIS IS [NAME]!"

"Fey is my wife, she is my family as well!" Haku grimaces. "Please. I love [Name], but I can't lose my family either."

A revelation knocks the anger out of Iroh. At the mention of family, he now understands why he feels such desperation for you. None of his urgency is due to the Avatar's safety. No, it's because he needs to go and protect his family. Nothing else in the world mattered, and he acts as such.

"I'm sorry, Haku. Please find Fey and make sure she is safe," Iroh relents. Haku nods his head, and both men pivot on their heels in the direction of their paramours.

It takes minutes for Iroh to arrive in the chieftain's side of the palace. He spots several guards rushing towards a specific hallway and follows them. When they notice his presence, they silently welcome him due to his title and authority. 

"Do you know what's happening?" Iroh asks between his panting. 

"We were notified of an ambush," one of the guards answers. "Not much else has been disclosed."

Iroh presses his lips together and quickens his pace. He outruns the guards as the hallway only has one direction. When he makes it outside the building, he notices a wooden door at the end which has been destroyed. Many guards are fighting rebels, but he sees a more fierce battle underway inside the small area past the stone wall.

As the guards behind him engage in the ongoing fights, Iroh runs through the small hole and into the oasis. There he find Hieu in the last of his spurts of energy, fending off two others. He recognizes them as Zaheer and P'Li, the two that kidnapped you before. 

All his fears become recognized when he realizes just what is happening. His gaze travels around for your form, but you are nowhere to be found. "WHERE IS SHE?!" Iroh screams as he flies in, his fire propelling him into the fight. 

"We need to leave now," Zaheer growls to his partner.

"You aren't going ANYWHERE!" Hieu bellows out as he continues to throw rock after rock at the group. Each boulder has a distinct pointed end to them, and every connection to the ground forces the earth to rumble.
