A/N: I've been so wrapped up in writing other stories that I forgot about this one again... Even though after this chapter, there are only 2 left. I know this story has been ongoing for years, but it's bittersweet to end it. >-<;

"Well?"
The General of the Republic Army usually showcases an ironclad will, a staunch face, and a straight back. He doesn't have a speck of humor in his bones, and his lips rarely form a smile. Yet all that stoicism breaks when it comes to his predecessor, General Iroh II.
He's always looked up to him due to his flawless command of the army. Iroh stares down danger without so much as a flinch and tackles challenges with flawless reason. The desire to impress a man as heroic as Iroh motivated General Omo to rise to the top. Surely, reaching the pinnacle of his career had him feeling unassailable.
Yet you find the man shaking under Iroh's judging glare. The idea of sanctity due to his title turns to a crisp, and he becomes rigid with anxiety. "We are still looking for them, sir."
Iroh seems unimpressed by the army's failure and places his hands behind his straightened back. He roams the line of soldiers that have allowed his son to escape. "How can a fourteen year old break through your defenses?"
"I'm sorry, General. We thought the boy he was with would stop him, but instead they went together."
Iroh halts, his eyes sliding to the side to see Haku's face morph into annoyance. "So that's where Yahiko went," Haku mumbles.
You smile at him, "At least they're together. Yahiko is an amazing earthbender and has more reason than most kids his age."
"Enough reason to aid Ren?" Iroh huffs as he joins you. Rin continues to mirror her father, stalking down the line of soldiers with her hands behind her back. She feigns an anger her father wore and pretends to scold them in her inaudible voice.
You press your hand on Iroh's arm to calm him. "The Spirit World is safe enough for travel. They don't have to deal with the Red Lotus like we did during our travels."
"It's still dangerous. He isn't a firebender at all," Iroh counters.
"He'll be fine with Yahiko. We can find them too."
Iroh finally lessens his protective behavior. If there is one thing that still haunts his fears, it's the fact that he lost you once. You mean more than anything in the world to him, and by extension, his children hold the same importance. He loves his family and would die for the family that he's created with you.
With Ren gone, he's in a state of panic, but the soothing of his wife soothes the turbulent emotions that ail him. However, General Omo trudges forward to add more bad news. "Well, General..."
"What is it?" Iroh grumbles, having had enough of his successor.
"There's a criminal hiding in the Spirit World, one that is trying to replicate Zaheer's ideals."
The statement stuns the group, and it breaks the last of Iroh's restraint. "You could have said that sooner! " Iroh yells. "How incompetent do you have to be--"
"Does he ever get angry like that with you?" Haku whispers his question to you.
You watch as Iroh berates the soldiers, heat spilling from his lips with every word said. "Never like that, but he looks very hot doing so."
Haku shakes his head and avoids the subject in fear of you clarifying your response. You two have always been a comedic duo. Inseparable, sappy, and wild-- that's how Haku describes the relationship between you and Iroh.
