Chains encase your wrists, restricting your arm movements. Another set of chains follow, this time on your ankles. You've done wrong in believing Mel to be a reasonable person. There had been signs of her obsession with Iroh since day one, but you were too preoccupied with your own problems to notice.
That's actually been a recurring theme in this journey. You have been too blinded by your own demons to notice the dangers around you. It's left you brokenhearted and arrested.
"I heard there are some catacombs underneath the palace," Fuu states as they decide on where to take you. "You can't exactly give her the death penalty until we find substantial evidence of her betrayal."
Mel stomps her foot as she grits her teeth. "SHE NEEDS THE DEATH PENALTY NOW!"
"Then how would you find Iroh?" you protest. Now that your plan had failed, you were doing your best to keep yourself alive.
They both glare at you in silence. You can see the cogwheels spinning in their brains and processing your offer. You know of Mel's unreasonable stance in the matter; denial dances on the tip of her tongue but Fuu interjects quickly. "There's a prison beneath the lake. Let's have the Dai Li take her there, maybe torture her until we get the information."
As they turn their backs to discuss matters with the Dai Li, you glance down at your pocket. With the little movement you have left, you shake your pocket until your small companion awakens from his slumber.
"Kyuu!" Hammy greets you as he climbs up your shirt and onto your shoulders.
"Hammy, go tell them..." you whisper to the small rodent. He stares you down, acquiring your request telepathically. Well, you think it's telepathy seeing as how Hammy nods his head and begins to sprint away.
You remain stoic as you watch Hammy leave, but when the Dai Li tug at your elbow, your lower lip trembles with fear. You have a small window of time before you're locked away from this world for good. You just hope they reach you in time.

"Isn't that rodent running too fast?" a feeble voice asks as they point at the hamster.
"Haha, he seems to have a mission," his partner chuckles but they pause upon closer inspection. "...I remember that hamster being in [Name]'s pocket."
"Oh? You know, my grandson is quite taken with her," the older man smiles.
"That's interesting! I think your grandson is giving her some intense heartbreak." The man strokes his beard. "But why is that hamster running as if its life depended on it?"
"Didn't you mention that the Red Lotus had their eyes on her, Aang?"
Aang stares as the hamster almost gets stepped on by a pedestrian. It doesn't faze the rodent though as he's too preoccupied with his quest.
"That hamster... Zuko, would you believe me if I said it's the reincarnated version of a Lion Turtle?"
Zuko gazes up at his friend, hoping to find a clue on his face on whether he's joking or not. "...No, that sounds preposterous."
"Haha... Well, let's keep an eye on this. I don't have a good feeling about what's happening," Aang finally concludes.

"Yeah, she's being transported to the underground dungeon."
"Perfect. Then it's our time to intercept," a mysterious (yet familiar) man purs to his group. "The Red Lotus will make our presence known to the world."
"How should we proceed?"
The man stands from his chair as he gazes at his small amount of followers. "I'm sure we have that Avatar's attention. Capture that girl, and we'll be able to make our demands."
"As you wish, Xai Bau."

A/N: I'm just gonna say if you haven't watched LoK season 3 you're not going to fully know the villains. So I suggest you watch or rewatch again. I mean, I'll do my best to write them in so that you don't need to watch it. But I feel like you'd enjoy it more if you were in the loop. Btw, I'm loving these comments >w> I drop everything just to read each and every one of them haha
But yeah time for the small and super important mini-arc! See you all next week!
