I looked around amazed my eyes wide, "You've been rescuing them" He said this time smiling his eyes twinkled and I smiled at him "Unbelievable" He said looking at me "You're not upset?" Valka asked Hiccup and I looked at her confused my head falling to the side confused "What? No. I don't know. It's a bit much to get my head around, to be frank. It's not every day you find your mother is some kind of crazy, feral, vigilante dragon lady" he said and I snorted on air "at least you find your mother..." I said smiling sadly and Hiccup sighed looking at me sadly as I kicked the ground "At least I'm not boring... right? and who are you?" She asked looking at me and I shrugged "just... a fri-" hiccup stopped grabbing my hand and intertwining our fingers, "my girlfriend" he said smiling and I looked at his mother Valka smiled. "Do you like it?" She asked motioning to the Sanctuary and I smiled at Hiccup "I don't have words..." Hiccup said and I squeezed his hand gently. 

I looked over to see Toothless and Stormdancer surrounded by curious and playful dragons who approach and sniff them, Toothless grew frustrated while Stormdancer just growled uneasily to scare them off. "Can I...?" She asked motioning to the two dragons and I nodded as did Hiccup "They are beautiful! Incredible! He might be the last of his kind. And look, he's your age!" Valka said "NO wonder you get along so well. And retractable teeth! Ah! How did you manage to--" She was interrupted by Hiccup who looked at me nervous "I found him in the woods. He was shot down and wounded" Hiccup said and she moved onto Stormdancer "She isn't wounded... The same age... How?" She asked and I smiled "she shot at me twice..."I showed the scar on my leg "then I saved her from trappers" I said and she moved on. "This Snafflefang lost his leg to one of Drago Bludvist's iron traps. This Raincutter had her wing sliced by razor netting. And poor Gruff was blinded by a tree snare... then left to die alone and scared. And what of this? Did Drago or his trappers do this, too?" She asked looking at Hiccup, Hiccup awkwardly laughed glancing at me his eyes met mine and I motioned for him to tell her "Heh. Well, crazy thing is... I'm actually the one who shot him down. It's okay though, he got me back. Right, bud? You couldn't save all of me, could you? You just had to make it even. So... peg leg!" Valka looked stunned but she still smiled as she watched him display his leg and Toothless laughed. "What did you father think of your Nightfury friend?" Valka asked looking at Hiccup he sighed and I looked at him as Stormdancer nuzzled me, "He didn't take it all that well. But then... he changed. They all did. Pretty soon everyone back home had dragons of their own and Sammy moved to Berk" He said motioning to me and I smiled happily as I stroked Stormdancer's head. "If only it were possible" Valka said defeated "No, really, I--" Hiccup tried to speak but Valka interrupted him "Believe me, I tried, as well. But people are not capable of change, Hiccup... Sammy. Some of us... Were just born different" She said and I sighed and looked at Hiccup. Valka launched into a flashback story and I listened intently. 

Flashback

"Hoist the torches!" a viking yelled as 'Berk was a land of kill or be killed, but I believed peace was possible', flashback Valka yanked the viking off of killing a dragon "Stop! You'll only make it worse!" 'It was a very unpopular opinion'. A dragon went into her home, Valka rushed in and grabbed a sword "Hiccup!", 'One night, a dragon broke into our house, finding you in the cradle. I rushed to protect you, but what I saw... was proof of everything I believed' the big dragon played with Hiccup, by noticing Valka scratched Hiccup's chin while turning towards her. 'This wasn't a vicious beast, but an intelligent, gentle creature, whose soul reflected my own'. The dragon looks at Valka and playfully winked and looked at her, an axe is thrown by known other then Stoic, "Valka, run!" Stoic yells as the large Stormcutter fires at Stoic and Valka tugs on him "Don't!". "Hold on!" Stoic yelled "No! Stoic!" Valka yelled as Valka is carried away by the Stormcutter flew away "VALKA!" Stoic yelled and Valka yelled back "Stoic!" The big man collapses with baby Hiccup "Valka..." He whispers sadly. 

End of Flashback

"You and your father nearly died that night, all because I couldn't kill a dragon" Valka said looking down sadly and I frowned gently leaning on Hiccup as he rested his head on mine. Hiccup cleared his throat "yeah, it runs in the family" Hiccup said and Valka looked at him and smiled at me slightly, "It broke my heart to stay away, but I believe you'd be safer if I did" Valka said looking at him and he shrugged and smiled "How did you survive?" He asked looking at his mother and she smiled and patted Cloudjumper, "Oh, Cloudjumper never meant to harm me. He must've thought I belonged here... In the home of the great Bewilderbeast! The Alpha species. One of very few that still exist. Every nest has its queen, but this is the king of all dragons" Valka said showing Hiccup and I the center of the nest, where an immense, white dragon slept in a pool of water. Smaller dragons fly by and respectfully bow before the king. "With his icy breath, this graceful giant built our nest. A safe haven for dragons everywhere" She said smiling at the large dragon and I looked at it as it struck me and I gasped "Wait, that's the ice-spitter? He's responsible for all that destruction?" Hiccup asked and he looked at me and I looked at Valka and she smiled "He protects us. We all live under his care. And his command. All but the babies, of course... who listen to no one!" She says as the babies pester Toothless and Cloudjumper scares them off, the little dragons land on the Bewilderbeast who is awoken to the little critters, and he gently blows them off and turned to face us. "I've lived among them for twenty years, Hiccup, learning their ways, discovering their secrets..." Hiccup and I bow in respect and the large dragon blows a puff of snow into our hair gently and I giggled as I brushed Hiccup hair gently to get the ice crystals out, "he likes you two" She said smiling warmly "wow..." Hiccup said in amazement, "you two must be hungry" I nodded at her suggestion and Hiccup looked at me before looking at his mom, "Uh, yeah. I could eat" he said taking my hand and we walked with Valka "good. It's feeding time." She said smiling as I glanced to see Stormdancer sitting next to Cloudjumper who was watching Toothless' bad antiques at playing.
