Ari POV:
"Somebody read that." Mr.Matthews says pointing to the board as we begin class.
"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it" Winston Churchill." Lucas reads off the board.
"And he did. Who's gonna write their own history here? What is history? I keep forgetting" Mr.Matthews asks.
"History is time passing." Riley states.
"Oh yeah? How much time? Someone once said, "100 years from now, all new people." Mr.Matthews tells us and Maya raises her hand.
"100 years!" She exclaims.
"Wrong." He says.
"You set me up." She tells him angrily.
"When should you guys begin to make your own history?"
"Right now." Riley answers.
"Good. So, today we're talking about Winston Churchill. When the new people come, how do you want them talking about you?" Mr.Matthews asks.
"Nicely?" Riley questions.
"How long do we have before history makes its decision about us?" Maya asks.
"What if they're writing it down now?" Farkle questions.
"Doesn't matter. Chapter one: Introduction. Please read." He says motioning for the book.
"There is a comfort in knowing that history is fixed. You can no sooner change history than you can change the nine planets in our solar system from Mercury to Pluto." Riley reads as everyone realizes what he means, except Riley.
"What?" Riley asks.
"Nice job, Mr. Matthews." Lucas says.
"Yeah good one sir" I say nodding.
"What'd he do?" Riley asks.
"He just showed us history books can be wrong. You can change history." Lucas says.
"I don't get it." Riley says shaking her head.
"How can she not know?" I ask.
"Look at the bird!" Maya exclaims and Riley looks. "She doesn't know because she has us." Maya states.
"The Riley Committee." Farkle says.
"The committee exists to keep certain information away from Riley." Maya explains.
"Like what?" Lucas and I ask.
"Jinx. Your on diaper duty today" I say.
"Yeah Yeah" he says shaking his head while smiling at me.
"Everything, really." Farkle says.
"Listen, this committee can't protect her for the rest of her life. She's getting too smart." Mr Matthews says.
"Sir she's looking for a bird." I say pointing at Riley.
"Well, someone's gotta tell her." He says.
"You do it." Maya says.
"Nah, you do it!" Mr Matthews replies.
"Hi, sweetie." Maya says tapping on Riley.
"Peaches." She replies.
"See, we've all been protecting you from something. You know Pluto?" Maya asks.
"Pluto? I love Pluto. Everybody knows that. Pluto's a little cutie-pie. The smallest planet with the biggest heart. I love Pluto so much, I would kiss it on the face." Riley responds passionately.
"Not doing it!" Maya exclaims.
"You're doing it!" Mr.Matthews says.
"Honey?" Maya asks.
"Peaches?" Riley responds.
"Pluto is not a planet anymore." Maya says slowly.
"What's that you say?"
"They made a scientific discovery that Pluto's not a planet anymore. Will you be okay?" Maya asks her.
"I'm fine. I am too old now to flip out over something like that. Dad, please continue." Riley says in a sad tone.
"You sure, sweetie?" Mr.Matthews asks.
"Please continue." She says.
"All right, guys. So, we're talking about who we are now, and who we hope to be someday. How will we write our own history and decide what's important to us?" Mr.Matthews asks.
"They found a 100-year-old time capsule in Boston last week. Could we do one of those?" Farkle asks.
"I love that idea, Farkle. In fact, we did one of those when i was in high school. We were gonna see what became of us in 15 years. Wait a minute. We were gonna see what became of us right now! We were gonna go back and see how much we've changed." Mr.Matthews explains.
"Yeah, well, I hope some of us never do." Maya says looking at Riley. After school Lucas and I head home to pick up Lexi before meeting with everyone at Topanga's.
"Hey guys" Lucas says as he pushes the stroller through the door.
"Hey" They all say from their seats.
"Sorry we're a little late. We had to go pick this little one up." I say as Lexi continues to babble in her stroller.
"It's cool" Maya says the others nodding in agreement.
"Come on princess, you want your baba" Lucas says in a baby voice as he picks her up. "Lovie will you get the bottle please" he asks me.
"Yeah bubba" I say digging through our baby bag before finding it and handing it over.
"Baba dada" Lexi says reaching for it causing us to chuckle.
"Yeah baby, you're hungry huh" Lucas says as he sits down while feeding her as I lock the stroller in place before sitting down.Lucas POV:
"How can they just do that? She works her whole life to become a planet and then it's just taken away from her. Do our hopes and dreams even matter?" Riley says as I continue to feed Lexi as she smiles around the nipple of the bottle.
"Well, in 15 years, we're gonna find out" I say moving to grab the Buffalo nickel from my back pocket keeping a hold on my daughter.
"A buffalo nickel. That's what you're putting in the time capsule?" Farkle asks me.
"How did you just grab that from your back pocket without dropping her." Maya asks me looking shocked.
"I'm her dad Maya, I've had practice holding her. Believe me at one point I was beyond scared to do anything else while holding her. But you get used to it and yeah their just dad skills I guess" I tell her before looking at Lexi who finished her bottle. "Good job baby" I say before putting the bottle down and starting to burp her. "Anyways Yeah, my grandfather gave it to me for.... Anyway, my grandfather gave it to me."
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, for what? Pappy Joe gave it to you for what?" Maya says grinning as Ari laughs taking Lexi from my arms once she burps and giving her some toys to play with on the floor mat she had set up.
"Don't call his grandfather pappy Joe." Riley says.
"It actually was pappy Joe." Ari says smiling.
"You knew that?" Riley asks Maya.
"Eh, it would've been anything I said. Why'd he give you the nickel? Why?" Maya asks excitedly.
"Nothing. He gave it to me for being a good little boy." I say shaking my head a little.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, tell us." Maya says.
"I was a little kid, I went to a kiddie rodeo, and I was the only one who made it the whole eight seconds." I explain as Ari starts to giggle at what I knew was coming.
"You rode a bull?" Riley asks.
"It was sort of like a bull." I say.
"Here comes funny." Maya says.
"He rode a sheep." Ari says as she bursts out laughing.
"Really babe you're laughing at me" I say and she shakes her head.
"No, I'm not laughing." She says in a fake serious voice. "Okay im totally laughing. But I know that was important for you so I'm done" Ari finishes as she stops laughing.
"It's a real thing it's called Mutton Busting" I explain. "I wanted to be a rodeo star. But, i got older and Lexi came and I gave up on it."
"Aww, don't ever give up on your sheep riding dreams. You go out there, and you become the best sheep rider the world has ever seen." Maya's mom, Katy says.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Maya asks.
"As long as I'm here, I've decided to give out valuable life-living advice, like Corey and Topanga. So, you all come to me when you're feeling lost in this world and I'm gonna fix you right up." Katy explains to us. "Nah, we're good." Farkle bluntly states.
"Do not let your sheep-riding disappointment prevent you from dreaming dreams. As I look back at my life, the only regrets I have are the dreams I gave up on too soon." Katy tells us.
"Wow, thank you. That's good advice" I say.
"Yes, it is!" She says smiling.
"But even if I wanted to I couldn't." I say before Lexi makes her way towards me.
"Dada wook" She says pointing to the tower she made with the blocks.
"Wow princess that's so cool" I say picking her up and tickling her stomach causing her to break out into a fit of giggles.
"Where'd the baby come from?" She asks confused.
"Mom this is Ari and Lucas' daughter Lexi" Maya explains causing Katy's jaw to drop.
"Did you say daughter?" Katy asks after she gets over her shock..
"Yeah" Maya nods.
"I think it's nap time" Ari says reaching for Lexi before starting to rock her to sleep.
"I'll pick up" I say grabbing the toy bag. "And yeah Ms.Hart that's Lexi. She wasn't exactly planned and we had her very young but she's our little princess" I say as I pick up Lexi's blocks.
"That's really sweet, she's a little cutie isn't she" Katy says. "Nice trophy the Farkle."
"Thanks, the Maya's mom. It's my science fair lifetime achievement award." Farkle says.
"Forget science, you dream dreams!" Katy exclaims. "But.." Farkle starts to say.
"Okay." Katy says walking away.
"What are you putting in, Maya?" Riley asks.
"Nothing, no hopes, no disappointments. What about you?" Maya asks.
"I don't know why it's so important for me to care about something that's so far away. But, I do. I'm putting in Pluto." Riley says holding up an orange ball.
"Well, it's small enough. Ha! Too soon?" Farkle asks.
"What are you putting in Ari?" Riley asks.
"I wasn't sure so I'm putting in this picture from my last dance recital " Ari says putting in the the picture. "I found out that I was pregnant a few weeks after that day, I wanted to be a dancer but I stopped dancing after we found out" Ari explains before she looks down at Lexi smiling. "I wouldn't change it though, sure dancing was my goal for a while but this little girl right here and Lucas, they're my family my world."
"And you guys are mine. I love you babe" I say before placing a kiss on her forehead as she leans into my side.
"I love you too bubba" she responds placing a kiss on my cheek as we continue to snuggle together.
