Ari POV:
"Hi baby" I say seeing my little girl sitting and playing in the living room as Lucas and I enter the room. "How was your day?" I ask her setting down our backpacks before walking over and sitting down beside her and picking up a few of the toys she had disregarded.
"Mama! Dada!" she cheers putting down the blocks she had in her hands and throwing herself at us.
"Hi princess" Lucas chuckles as he places a kiss to her forehead.
"Look dada, I make a picture for you" she says smiling at him before she walks over to grab it from the floor by where she was playing to grab it.
"Aw thank you baby" he says pulling her into his lap once she returns and she begins to tell him about the picture. I smile looking at my little family. We have to save the arts...not for me but for her.
Later that day, we sit with the group at Topanga's trying to figure out what to do. Lucas and I sit next to each other, as Lexi is curled up against his chest asleep.
"Well, you are harder to watch than usual. I mean, all broken and pouty and stuff. Lucas used ot call us in Texas and tell us about you guys. The genius who's loyal and kind, the brave blone" Zay says as we sit around saying nothing.
"Lucas talks about himself like that?" Maya says looking at him about to laugh.
"He was talking about you actually" I say looking towards her.
"Oh" she says a little shocked.
"He would say you were full of fire, that you stood up for those you cared about" I tell her.
"And the nice brunette who never gives up on anyone or anything, he would say that no sacrifice was too big for her friends. But now you've all given up. Where's the fire? Because I don't see any of it." Zay says before he sits back down. "You know what, Lucas? These aren't the people you told me about"
"Yeah, except you've been here long enough to know that they are" Lucas says still leaning back in his seat as he pulls Lexi closer to him. "We just need to come up with something, I'm not letting Lexi grow up without the ability to do what she loves, whatever that may be."
"Einstein said we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them" Farkle speaks up.
"Yeah maybe we just need a different way of thinking" Lucas says.
"Well if we're trying to save the creative arts. Why can't we start thinking creatively" I ask the group before we launch into a brainstorm over what we could do to stop the board.
Lucas POV:
It took a lot of brainstorming and planning but we had finally come up with a plan to get the school board to hold off on a decision. Right now we were waiting outside of the board meeting waiting for them to call on Zay so we could start.
"I'm asking you to slow down before this vote becomes final. Once these cuts are official, then art and music and drama and dance...they're gone. I mean, is that really acceptable? It's not too late to do the right thing here. Thank you chairperson Sanchez" we hear Mr.Turner say as he finishes his proposal to the board.
"Thank you, Superintendent Tuner. That was a lovely and impassioned speech. Let me just check if it changed any of the numbers. No. I'm afraid not." the chairperson says before we hear her call Zay, who walks out to stand at the mic. "Mr.Babineaux?"
"Hello, chairperson." he starts causing Ari to giggle from beside me. "Thank you for seeing me."
"We are happy to see a young representative of our school community, who is, I trust, going to address us with great respect for our process" Chairperson Sanchez says before we all walk out to stand next to Zay.
