MCYT: Karl Jacobs

Minecraft or Irl: Minecraft

Type: I'm really not sure...

Pronouns: She/Her

Notes: Y/N =Your name. I also reference a few other servers, like X-Life and Crazycraft, cause I headcanon that these servers are all set in the same universe, but somewhere different in the timeline.

Premise: Karl uses his ability to travel through time to try and stop Wilbur blowing up L'manberg. But then he comes face to face with the ex-president's right hand woman, who he knows a terrible fate will befall.

Trigger warnings: Swearing and mentions of death

Karl's POV

I shook my hands a few times to reduce the tingling feeling I got whenever I jumped through the timeline. Let's hope I got it right this time, and didn't end up a decade previously when some cult was running the place. That was weird. Funny name too, Jeremyism...

I blinked at my surroundings, sighing with relief as I recognised the rubble of the blackstone walls I'd seen pictures of that used to surround L'manberg.

Get in, get out.

It was as simple as that. I needed to break Wilbur's button. If he couldn't destroy it all, I could fix everything. His death, Tommy's exile... I could fix it all.

I brushed the congealed dirt and mud off the secret entrance to the room, shouldering the door open. I quickly struck a match, lighting the torch in my hand, illuminating the thin corridor that lead to the button. I moved quickly and quietly, pausing for a few seconds as my hoodie got caught on the rouch surface of the wall. Having freed myself, I started forwards again, quickly reaching the room.

This was the hard bit.

I had to get the button off the wall somehow, but without triggering the chain reaction of tnt connected to it. And that would be a hard task. I set my torch in an empty brazier on the wall, letting the orange hue flicker around the room like dancers. I grabbed the screwdriver from my back pocket, twirling it a few times before positioning it carefully under the oak contraption, trying to wedge it behind and pry it off the wall. However, in my concentration, I failed to hear the encroaching footsteps.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I shot up, head wheeling around to be face to face with a woman I didn't recognise. She glared at me with narrowed eyes, lips thinning into an angry line.

"H-hi." I stuttered. I wasn't used to having to interact with people while I did this. Usually I was alone. I had no idea how to react.

"Who are you?" She asked flatly. I noticed her hand go to rest on the hilt of her sword, and smiled nervously.

"I- umm..."

"ANSWER ME!" She drew the weapon and I fumbled backwards, throwing my arms up, the screwdriver flying out of my hand and landing on the floor with a loudly satisfying clang.

"Okay, okay, chill out! I'm Karl." I introduced myself, heart pounding as the point of her sword rested at my chin.

"I don't recognise you." She stared at me for a few seconds, eyes skimming over my face, as though taking in every detail.

"Yeah... I'm not from round here." I explained, only half lying.

"Then how did you know how to get in?" She raised an eyebrow, "Wilbur made sure only he and I knew the location of this room." Then it dawned on me.

"Y-you're Y/N, aren't you?" I watched her freeze, the confidence and power she held over me leaving in an instant as her eyes widened.

It all made sense now.

I'd heard stories about her. She was Wilbur's second in command, the only member of Pogtopia who agreed with his plan of demolition. I'm not sure how true it was, but they say she was the only one Schlatt feared. And the reason I didn't recognise her, was because there were no photos.

You see, Y/N is going to die in the explosion. And unlike Wilbur, she won't come back.

If I destroy the button... Can I save her?

"How do you know who I am?" Y/N asked furiously, but before, when she yelled, it was controlled and overwhelming, now it was sloppy and demanding. As though skittish.

"Look, I can't explain it, but I need to destroy the button. I can't let Wilbur blow up L'manberg. I can't let innocent people get hurt, I have to fix this." I tried to keep my voice calm and reassuring.

"They are not innocent people, they are tyrants and traitors-" She began.

"I was talking about you." This stopped her in her tracks. Y/N lowered her sword, face unreadable.

"Who says I'll die?" Her voice wavered slightly.

"I just have a bad feeling..." It was hard. So hard. How could I wanr her without telling her what I knew? I've tried this before and people never believe me. I told Oli not to rig the tnt into Callum's house. He ignored me. And look what happened there... Two friends turned against each other in war.

"What, can you see the future or something?" She laughed harshly, a joke hitting a little to close to the mark.

No, I just live there, I thought, but I obviously didn't voice it aloud.

"Just trust me, please." I begged.

"Why do you care so much, you don't even know me!" A smile crept onto my face.

"But I know about you. I know you've suffered, I know everything that's happened to you. I know what Dream did to you." I spoke softly.

"How could you possibly-" She paused as she choked out an involuntary tear.

"It's okay," I walked over, awkwardly rubbing her shoulder. She flinched at the contact as first before relaxing, "No one should have to go through that, but destroying everything isn't the way to fix this."

"Sometimes in order to feel safe, you need to be prepared to sacrifice the things you're scared to lose." I drew back a bit.

"Stop using Wilbur's words, speak for yourself. Do you really want this?"

"I have to destroy it, it's my duty, Will is counting on me, I can't let him down-" I interrupted her justification.

"This isn't about Wilbur, or duty. It's about what you want. Make your own choice." I watched her blink, as though thinking deeply.

"I don't even know. I've been following orders for so long, thinking it made me stronger, and now I'm left feeling weak." I went to reply, but a subtle vibration on my wrist stopped me.

No, not now!

Due to faulty equipment that was definitely not due to my own clumsiness, my teleporter only worked in hour long intervals. Time was up, and I'd failed.

"I'm sorry, have to go, no time to explain!" I called, picking up my screwdriver. I hated to leave her so vulnerable like this, but I couldn't let her see anything that would leak the secrets of my truth. I started sprinting out of the room as a warm glow started issuing from the watch on my wrist.

"Goodbye Karl." I paused, turning back for a second, looking forlornly back at the woman who'd die in a month.

"Goodbye Y/N."

I barely made it outside the corridor before a harsh white light enveloped me and I felt the nauseating sensation of travelling through the timeline. I closed my eyes shut against the blinding brightness. I'd made a decision. I couldn't let her die. And I wouldn't. I'd jump forwards to L'manberg's last day.

And I'd do everything in my power to save her.
