Golden Heart

Alice inhaled sharply as she saw Miles standing in the doorway, his fist raised and ready to knock on her door. It was like he had frozen in place, looking down at her with wide eyes, his lips parted as though he wanted to say something but the words had died down in his throat and nothing came out. He didn't dare to breathe or make any other sound. She looked up at him, feeling her heart beat faster and faster. Her breathing was getting faster and faster, she felt as though she would pass out any second and he would have to catch her again. She knew if she did he would catch her. He wouldn't let her fall.

Miles would never let her fall.

In the darkness she could still see his face clearly. She felt small, vulnerable when he stood in front of her like that, looking down at her with those beautiful eyes, scanning every part of her body and waiting for something to happen. His fist was no longer in the air, he didn't have to knock anymore because Alice was there, right in front of him. And suddenly he completely forgot why he had come to her room, even though he had known she would most likely be asleep and not open the door. He had hoped she wasn't sleeping, and here she was fully awake. Had she heard him and opened the door or had she wanted to go somewhere? Maybe she couldn't sleep either.

"M-Miles," Alice whispered. She didn't say his name like she was questioning why he was there. She said his name like she was relieved to see him, like she had been waiting for him. Like he was the one thing she had hoped to see the most when she had opened the door. Or maybe it was just his mind playing tricks on him. But still just hearing her say his name was enough to make him move.

It all happened so fast, she had no time to even think or react when his lips were suddenly on hers. Her eyes widened in shock, she inhaled sharply, feeling her heart skip a beat. But then, all of a sudden, so fast she barely noticed it, she melted into the touch of his lips against her own. The time stopped when his lips were on hers and the flutter inside her chest only intensified, everything disappeared around them, all their worries were gone, all their angst was gone. And she let her eyes close and her arms wrap around his neck to hold herself up as her knees weakened under her, moving her lips against his and feeling the tiny little sparks his lips sent through her whole body. Like electricity, her body was ignited again with the fire that burned deep inside her whenever he was there.

But she didn't focus on the sparks. She could only focus on the softness of his lips, how he invaded all her sense, how suddenly all she could smell was him. Not the shampoo he had used when he had taken a shower but a smell that belonged to Miles and to Miles only. The feeling of his frame against hers, claiming her mouth, hungry and intense but still careful. It was passion, it was heated. She had never kissed before but somehow her lips knew exactly what to do, somehow her tongue knew exactly where to go, as though she had lost all control over them and they were working all on their own. The feeling was overwhelming, it was amazing, it made her want to never stop.

He was picking her up in seconds, like she weighed nothing at all, their lips never parting once. His chest was against hers and she could feel his heart beating just as fast as hers. Every tiny little beat she felt, every sharp breath he took she felt. He sat down on the bed, her on his lap, and kept his hands on her small body as she got more and more lost in the kiss. Her fingers moved, exploring his skin like she had never been able to do before. And the tingling inside her body only intensified. She had never felt such a feeling before. Everything was burning, her insides felt like they were on fire and Miles had been the one with the lighter. His kiss was rough and soft at the same time, slow but fast. He moved, she moved, like magnets. His kiss was like a black hole pulling her in until all gravity was lost under his touch. She could feel her lungs burning after just a few seconds as she tried to catch her breath between all the kissing, all the touching and moving. But she didn't want to pull away. She didn't want the feeling inside her to go, she didn't want to extinguish the flame inside of her so quickly again. She needed to feel the touch of his lips for a bit longer.
