Golden Heart

She had climbed over the big gate that surrounded their house, hitting her knees on the sharp handles. Opening the gate would've been easier but they had cameras installed on the inside and outside so they could see who left or entered the house. So she had to climb over the gate. She had done it many times before so it was no big deal to hear, her father had caught her a few times, too. But she knew exactly how to get over the gate and she always made it.

All the lights in her house were still turned off, everyone was still sleeping. She was now completely free and could do whatever she wanted. It felt great. The moonlight shining down at her, it's silver-white color splashing over her, making her skin glow. A soft breeze was blowing through her hair, cooling her skin, she loved it.

The streets were still wet from the rain, it smelled earthy and fresh. She loved the smell. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and enjoying the night. But she had to get away from the house now, her father would see if her looked outside the window. She looked around, looking for anyone that could've seen her but there was no one. It was too late for anyone to be outside.

They wouldn't care if they saw her anyway. Most people in this street hated her. She would always hear them talking about her behind her back when she crossed the street. They would stay as fas away from her as possible. Because she wasn't like them. The people were all rich pricks with way too much money.

Just like her father who was the biggest asshole of all of them.

All of their houses were smaller than hers, and she wasn't proud of that. The houses looked almost the same, the dooryards way too big and fat cars standing in front of the garage.

She hated it here. And couldn't wait to get away from here as fast as possible. Soon enough she was going to walk around downtown and maybe go to the library or the diner. And she wouldn't have to listen to her father complain about something. Because he wouldn't be there to tell her what to do.

She decided to take the small alleyway downtown instead of the big Main Street. Too many people were walking around there and other people was the last thing she needed right now. She just needed some silence and time alone. Taking alleyways at night wasn't the best idea, but she had her phone and knew that nothing was going to happen to her.

She started walking past a few houses, almost no cars were parked here. All the lights in the houses here were off, some of the houses were abandoned and old and were starting to literally fall apart. The paint on the outside was almost completely gone now and most of the windows were either shattered or boarded up. No one wanted to live in them.

Many homeless people often came here and found a way inside the houses. They slept inside the house and left in the morning. Some of them even stayed inside them. They would sleep there and go downtown in the afternoon to beg for some money. She didn't even want to know how dirty it was on the inside.

No one was taking care of the houses or trying to sell them, so no one really knew what else happened in there. She assumed that there were even some rapers who came her to rape their victims. But nobody knew or cared.

It was a little colder than she had expected it to be, shivering under the thin jacket she was wearing. But she didn't mind at all. She was glad to be outside right now. She loved being able to do whatever she wanted to do without her dad telling her what she should and shouldn't do. It felt amazing.
