Golden Heart
"Hi," she said in a high pitched voice. He was standing there with a bottle of some weird looking liquor in his hand. His face showed no emotions, his perfect, fading pink lips slightly parted. His brown eyes were eyeing her up and down in a weird way and she started to feel a little uncomfortable.
Why did she even decide to speak to him? She had told herself not to do it. A few minutes ago she was even trying to get away from him. And still she had done it. Why did she keep doing things she didn't even want to do? And he didn't seem pleased either. He didn't even smile back, he had this annoyed face expression like that night at the party when he was trying to get her out of the bathroom.
"Hi," he said annoyed, his raspy and low voice making her feel small and fragile. He was intimidating, with his black clothes and his dark face expression. She would never admit it, but she was a little scared of him. She didn't know what he was capable of and the thought of it scared her a little. He was a stranger after all. And maybe he only helped her that night because it was part of his plan.
She was being ridiculous. He was just a normal guy that didn't know when to shut up. A guy with no emotions and a guy that probably drank too much alcohol in his free time. She didn't even want to think about all the other things he did when he was bored.
He looked almost the same he did the last time she had seen him. His clothes were completely soaked, though, his curls sticking to his wet forehead. And he had dark eye bags. He looked as if he hadn't slept in days. The bottle in his hand looked like some kind of alcohol. Maybe vodka, she didn't know. It was obvious that he drank, she still remembered the vodka on his breath when he was helping her in the bathroom that night.
She hated the smell of alcohol and the fact that he drank made him even more disgusting and weird. At least that was what she told herself.
They were starring at each other and saying nothing at all. Like staring had become their only form of communication. His eyes told her everything she needed to know. Neither did he want to talk to her nor did he want to see her. Even worse than she had imagined. She looked like a lost puppy, staring at him with her big brown eyes as she was thinking about what to do. He obviously didn't want to talk.
She turned around without another word and put all her groceries on the register. Talking to him was pointless. He was weird anyway, it didn't bother her at all. Or so she thought.
The girl behind the register started scanning the products quickly. And it's then that she realized she had forgotten to bring money. The girl was scanning the product too fast, the little beeping sound adding up to the mess inside her head. She didn't know what to do. This was embarrassing, especially because "mysterious guy" was behind her. She started to panic, fumbling with her sweaty hands.
She put her hands in the pockets of her jacket, desperately trying to find money in there. No luck. This was horrible. How could she forget to bring money? She was stupid, why did this have to happen now?
She took off her backpack and started searching for money in there. No luck either. The backpack was completely empty. Her anxiety started to grow bigger with each second and the cashier started scanning the last product already. She nervously looked around, trying to think. Why was everything going so fast when she didn't need it to go fast?
She glared at the groceries while putting on her backpack, then turned around. Maybe "mysterious boy" was still here. She could ask him for help, even though she would feel guilty for the rest of the day. Even the thought of asking him for money was embarrassing. Especially because he was a stranger. But he was gone, leaving a wet trail on the floor. He had disappeared just as fast as he had come.
