Golden Heart
Alice awoke to the sound of soft humming and the feeling of warmth tingling her skin. Her thoughts were still with the dream she had had, with the raven haired boy and a world that was too good to be true. But then she saw the brightness behind her eyelids, heard the sound of another person in the room.
At first she didn't open her eyes. How long had she slept? It had felt like hours. But the humming was a nice thing to wake up to. It was so happy, so full of life. And the warmth on her skin gave her a feeling of safeness, calmed her down. But the warmth wasn't the only thing that was there to wake her. It was accompanied by the blinding light that kept her from fully opening her eyes. Her tired eyes were slow to adjust to the brightness in the room, or her surroundings. For a second she was almost a bit lost and unsure of where exactly she even was. Everything looked so unfamiliar.
The smell of fresh bacon and eggs was tingling her nose, making her stomach growl loudly. She knew exactly where she was and who the person humming was. But, god, she was still so tired. Her limps felt tired, her eyes felt heavy. And she wanted to jump back into her dream world. There was just this growing hunger forming inside her at the smell of the delicious breakfast and the realization of what day it was.
Slowly sitting up, she stretched her legs and raised her arms behind her head, letting out a loud yawn which caught the attention of Liam, cooking breakfast only a few feet away from her. The sun was shining right at the sofa she had been lying on a few seconds ago. So that was what had woken her. Her hair was a mess on her head, and she was sure she didn't look the most appealing right now. But then again she couldn't seem too are much about her appearance right now.
She slowly got up, feeling her legs still wobble a bit under her.
Today was the day she had waited for. Two days had passed, many questions had been asked, an impatient Alice had kept asking for a certain Miles a million times, over and over again. By the time everyone had been questioned the officers had been annoyed by her presence, without even having to say anything Alice noticed their change in mood whenever she came along. Still she couldn't stop herself. She hadn't been allowed to see him for two days, the reason for that was still a mystery to her. But the waiting was finally over.
For the last two days people had been questioned. First Alice, who had told the officers exactly what she had told the sheriff. She had tried to stay calm when talking to the officers in private, explaining everything in detail and telling them, maybe a bit too often, that Miles was innocent and shouldn't be kept in his cell any longer. Alice was sure that keeping him there two days was even longer than they were allowed to, but things never worked the way they should in this town.
After she was questioned for almost a whole hour Liam had been the next to question. Then Gwynn, Kylo and even the rest of the maids. Ella was questioned at the hospital since the doctors had told her to stay for a few more days to keep an eye on her in case anything happened, in case things got worse. Alice had visited her twice each day, even brought her flowers yesterday. Liam always seemed even happier to see her, him and Alice had spent the two days together since Alice had stayed at his place - a small house at the outer part of town that seemed almost too lovely and happy for Liam. She had slept on the sofa three times now, although he had insisted she'd sleep in his bed and he'd take the sofa. Alice hadn't wanted him to sleep on the sofa, this was his house after all. So after a tiny argument she had taken the sofa and he had slept in his own bed.
