Jungkook stared at him with almost angry eyes.

"What?" He asked tiredly.

Staying up all night staring at the note definitely didn't do him any good. Not that he usually slept well anyways, but this time, his mind was running 100 miles an hour and could only conjure up imaginary situations where Jimin popped up out of nowhere and proposed.

"What do you mean, 'what'? You sit around for years, 3 years, and suddenly you have a ring on your finger?" Jungkook hissed, putting down his takeout box to point to his finger, which Jungkook had only just noticed. It was illogical, why the hell did Taehyung have an engagement ring?

Taehyung only sighed. "Kook. I found it,"

Jungkook tilted his head, eyes still narrowed.

"In the drawer on his side of the bed." He said in a whisper, looking at the white gold and diamond ring.

"Oh." Jungkook reached for his hand. "Can I look?"

Jungkook examined his ring with critical eyes. As a jewelery designer himself, he needed to make sure that Jimin had picked out something good enough.

"It's beautiful." He finally said, letting Taehyung's hand fall back to his side.

"There was a note too." Taehyung said, trying to distract himself with the TV once again. His takeout laid, unopened, on the coffee table.

"Oh?"

Taehyung nodded. "I um. I want you to read it. Because I just- I need someone to- that he really...he really wanted us to-"

"Hey, it's okay." Jungkook muttered, seeing Taehyung get worked up. "I'll read it, you don't have to explain yourself."

When Jungkook's eyes scanned the paper, Taehyung swallowed past the lump in his throat. He wasn't nervous, but he was trembling and his breathing was uneven.

"More than anything," Jungkook muttered. "He wanted you to be happy. And I know you loved him-"

"Love him."

With a sigh, Jungkook continued, fixing his previous statement. "I know you love him, but I think you should try to move-"

"Let me ask you something Jungkook." Taehyung interrupted, folding his hands, the way he always did when he was serious. His voice was hoarse, and wobbly. "If Jin and Namjoon just...disappeared one day, would you move on? And don't just say yes to prove a point, think about it. You love them more than anything, correct?"

"Yeah....I mean-"

"Would you die for them?"

"Of course-"

"Would they die for you?"

"I hope not, but probably-"

Taehyung leaned back, hands still folded on his lap. "How much time do you spend with them?"

"Bascially all day, what does that-"

"So if you were to suddenly be alone, never to see them again, knowing they died but not knowing how, when, or why, what would you do? What would you do if they were to die, and suddenly all that time you spent together seems like nothing because you'll never spend another second with the-"

"I get it!" Jungkook shouted. He quickly curled in on himself at his own voice, "No, I don't get it. I'm sorry for yelling."

"My point is Jungkook," Taehyung continued, softer this time. His throat was sore, and scratchy. "I won't move on. I've spent most of my life with him. He was my comfort, he was my home. His voice alone was enough to make me come running. I could point him out in a crowd of millions if I had to. I will never move on. Pathetic or not, I could care less. If he seriously intended on spending his life with me, I will spend my life with the memory of him."

"Taehyung, he......okay. I'm sorry Hyung, for shouting and acting like I knew what you were going through. I haven't been with them for long in comparison, but even the thought....."

"It's okay Jungkook. But never ask me something like that again. You have no business telling me what he would want or what I should do now that he's gone."

"I won't again, I promise!"

It pulled a smile from Taehyung, however small and watery.

His own words came crashing back to his head. He would never spend another second with Jimin. Would never get to see his face, never get to talk to him or be held, or so much as catch a glimpse of him.

He didn't know what killed him, or when. He didn't know if he had an illness or if someone intentionally killed him. Was he murdered or did he die of an illness?

The information Taehyung was never provided and he would never recieve.

They hadn't been sent a body for the funeral, they only had pictures of him up.

Was there a fire? Could they just not find him and pronounced him dead?

Maybe he was alive and had amnesia, and just didn't know who Taehyung was.

That thought hurt less. Because then Jimin would be alive, hopefully happy. That was all Taehyung needed, he needed to know Jimin was happy.

But that probably wasn't the case.

"Taehyung, did I ever show you who he was going to help?"

"No." He cleared his throat, suddenly choked up. "No you didn't."

"Do..." Jungkook hesitated. "Do you want to know who?"

Taehyung shrugged, it didn't matter. He supposed it couldn't hurt though. "Sure."

Jungkook pulled out his phone and scrolled through his old messages with Jimin. He made sure to save them, for the memories and for the day Taehyung asked why Jimin had left in the first place. The elder had told him who he was going to help and why. Jungkook was pretty sure that Jimin knew he wasn't coming back.

"Yoongi was Ji-his best friend." Jungkook muttered, clicking on the picture. "They kind of grew up together. Every time he went to Daegu with his parents, him and Yoongi would meet and catch up."

"Why did he never tell me? Why didn't Yoongi and I ever meet?" Taehyung took the phone, lip quivering as he gently traced over the picture of Yoongi and Jimin, the former's arm thrown over Jimin's shoulder. They were both smiling, and Jimin's hand was sneakily making bunny ears over Yoongi's head.

"Yoongi....isn't a great person." Jungkook explained. "He didn't want you to meet. Yoongi..um...you know how jealous Jimin got-"

Taehyung's breath hitched, and he dug his nails into his palms.

"-Yoongi was always a flirt I guess. And he's always been insecure, so I guess he was scared Yoongi would steal you."

With a smile, small and barely visible, Taehyung handed the phone back. "He always is possessive."

Jungkook didn't have the heart to correct him.
