Chapter 10: Confirmations & Good Changes

Kate's POV

I was making my morning rounds, making sure the patients and their families were okay! When I got to Liz's room, I stood there in awe as they were sleeping! It was so nice to see Liz smiling and laughing last night when they were walking, it seemed like she was truly happy...which is all I could ever ask! I walked out to the waiting room and woke Natalie and the girls up! "You've gotta see this! It's so sweet!" I said. They got up and followed me back. "Aww!" They all whispered, and I laughed quietly. Liz's head was on Melody's shoulder and Melody's head was resting on Liz's! "Alright I'm gonna go do some stuff, you can stay in here if you want!" I told all of them. "Okay thanks!" Natalie said. I knew she felt horrible, and I felt bad for her...but she kinda deserved it! The more I thought about it though, she didnt deserve it! I ran back to Liz's room and motioned Natalie! "I know how you can make this up to her, follow me!" I said. She nodded and came with me.

Melody's POV

I woke up to find my mom and sisters in the room. They had all gone back to sleep and Liz was still sleeping on my shoulder. I checked my phone and it was nine thirty, and by the time I had gotten done checking my phone...Liz started moaning, starting to wake up. "Hey sleepy head!" I said smiling. "Hey." she whispered smiling as well. "We made it through the night! Now only five more to go!" I said slightly laughing. "Yay us!" she said sarcastically and we both laughed!! She hugged me and smiled. "Thanks!" she said. "Absolutely!" I said, hugging her back and smiling. "Aww!" I heard Tara and the twins say. Liz and I laughed. "Hilarious girls!" I said. "Do the twins know?" I mouthed to Tara. She's the only one that can read lips, besides mom, so that's kinda how we talk! She nodded and said that mom told them in the car when they were ont the way to get Liz and I the day of the shooting! "Good!" I said. "Hey sleepy heads!" Kate said. "Hey!" we all said. "Alright Ms Elizabeth Claire, you are officially a Messer...Natalie and I were up all night working on the paperwork, and we had it approved! Welcome to the family!" she said. By this point both of us were sitting up, Liz was crying and I hugged her, "We won!" I whispered, crying too! I looked up at my aunt and mouthed "she's forgiven!" This was my moms way of making it up to me, I just know it! We cried for a few minutes, then wiped our tears and looked at Kate! "Alright Liz, ready to walk?" she asked unhooking her IV. "Yeah, let's do this!" Liz said. "We're gonna try something new today though okay?" Kate said. "Sure!" she said. Tara and I helped her up. "Okay, today I want you to walk to Melody...nothing to hold to, just walk to her!" Kate said. Liz nodded. I was about three feet away from her, and I had this gut feeling that this was a bad idea! "You can do this, I've got faith in you!" I said. She smiled and took her first step...and I was really scared! I was clapping and cheering her on, so were the girls. "You can do this! Just two more steps!" I said almost in tears. She took one more step, and I held out my hands so she could see that she only had one more step left. She took that final step and grabbed my hands. "You did it, you did it, you walked...without me!" I said, excitedly. She let go of my hands and hugged me, I hugged her back! "I am so proud of you!" I whispered! "You are the best sister I have ever had!" she said. The girls were all around us at this point, hugging both of us!! i had never been prouder, she had never been happier, and I knew that we were in for a ride within the next week.
