Melody's POV

"How, how did this happen? I thought..." I couldn't manage any more words. "I was in here all night sweetie, but I don't remember anything after two in the morning." Katie said. "Is she..." I started. "No, honey no! She's not dead, she's just comatose!" she said. "Well well well, look who underestimated me!" mom smirked. We all turned around. "Mom, why? Why'd you do this to Liz?" Elsa asked. Mom bent down to Elsa's height. "Because your sisters needed to be taught a lesson, they both underestimated me and they needed to be taught a lesson!" she said. "Besides, I wanted to get to Melody; I am the mom, I decide what goes. You DO NOT get to make decisions, especially these!" she smirked, standing back up. "Okay, that's it!" I said. I walked over to my own mother and slapped her. "I AM SO TIRED OF YOU!" I screamed slapping her again. "You KNOW just how much Liz means to me, yet you SWITCHED THE CHEMO BAGS and MADE HER COMATOSE!" I continued slapping her. "I told you, I'm not gonna stop her!" I heard Hope say. I slapped her and slapped her until my hands hurt, then fell to the ground crying. "She's YOUR daughter, OUR SISTER, MY BEST FRIEND; WHY? WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING STUFF LIKE THIS TO US, TO ME?!?!?!?!" I cried. Katie met me on the ground and pulled me close. "Leave! Now!" Katie said firmly. Natalie just stood there. "LEAVE!" Hope shouted, making her jump. "Told you I'd get to you!" she smirked and walked out of the room. Katie had to hold me down to keep me from going after her. "Melody? Melody? Hey! She's not worth it!" she whispered. I stopped fighting her and cried into her shoulder. "It's okay, it's okay. She's okay, we had to intubate her so she could breathe but her heart's perfectly okay! It's beating, she's alive, and she's stable!" she said. "Can you get it out of her system before it kills her?" I asked Hope, crying. "I will stop at nothing to make sure it doesn't kill her, I promise!" she said. I nodded. "I didn't think she would do it!" I whispered, crying. "Neither did we Mels" I heard Tara say. "I'll get it out hun, I promise!" Hope assured me.

--a week later--

I walked down to where Kate worked, it had been a week and I needed her. "Mels?! What're you doing down here?" she said, walking over from a patient she was about to discharge. I turned around, and you could tell that I'd been crying. "Melody, what's wrong?" she asked. "Remember the chemo that I was telling you about, the one that killed my father?" I asked. She nodded, concerned. "Well..." I stopped and realized that I was crying. "Just come with me; I'm gonna cry anyway, so just come with me!" I said, sniffling.

When we got to Liz's room, I was silent, the scary kind of silent that no one ever wants to be. "Oh...my...god..." Kate said in disbelief at the tube breathing for her. "Are YOU okay? I know she's not, but are you?" she asked. I just stood there for a second. "No" I mouthed bursting into tears. She hugged me and I just lost it. "I have cried so much in the last week I just don't care anymore, I don't care who sees me cry, I don't care where I cry, I just do not care anymore!" I whispered into her shoulder. "Melody, who put the chemo bag up on her IV pole?" she asked. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you!" I cried. "Melody, I know it wasn't Hope or Katie!" she said. "How do you--" I began. "I know they wouldn't do this to her, or to you, and I know she didn't want it!" she interrupted letting go of me. "Now, tell me who hung it!" she said firmly but kindly. "Natalie! Your sister, my mother! Natalie!" I said. "Somehow I knew that was what you'd say!" she said, disappointed but knew I wasn't lying. "NATALIE!" she screamed. My mom popped around the corner, white as a ghost. "Why?!?!" Kate said, gesturing to Liz. "You know what, don't answer that because I know you're just gonna lie to me! Instead, I'm gonna talk to the nurses who are basically moms to the kids you gave birth to! THEN, I'll decide on what to do!" she screamed. Hope and Katie were coming in any way to check on us. "I wanna know everything, from the day this chemo was mentioned!" she told Hope.

--an hour later--

"So basically my sister put her own child into a coma when Liz didn't even want it while she was sleeping?" Kate asked, pissed. Hope had been explaining everything for the past hour, Katie, Tara, and I would chime in and explain too. "Yeah, pretty much!" Hope said. "From what I can tell none of her organs are failing, we have to breathe for her but that's basically it!" she continued. Kate looked at me. "What do you wanna do?" she asked me with tears in her eyes. I just sat in a chair and held Liz's hand. Katie walked over to me and bent down. "She's gonna be okay Mels, it's all gonna be okay!" she told me. I looked at her tears running down my face. "How do you know that?" I whispered. "You know, I've been asked that question so many times in my time as a nurse; everybody that's asked me that, they always end up walking out of here with their loved one!" she smiled. "Plus I know she's a fighter just like you!" she laughed. I smiled and hugged her with the one arm that wasn't occupied. "Thank you!" I whispered.
