When the greatest heroes fell, when the unholy, and then sinful roamed the land, unbound by the judging hands of Justice, all hope was lost.
Despair, pain, suffering and hopelessness became the most common emotions, and it got to a point where it became the norm. But one day, one refused to kneel, one rebellious soul decided it was enough.
It started when he saved his brethren from unfairness; this, in turn, was the spark that reignited the flames in everyone's heart which was dwindled to nothing. Over time, small acts start to snowball, gathering momentum. Day by day, month by month, a plan forming for years under the fat, greasy noses of the tyrants themselves, who believed the low lives were too prideless to even rebel a bit.
Until one day, when entire armies purged the castles.
The rebellion was so great even most of the Emperor's soldiers rebelled back. As Justice was slowly creeping up the doors of those who escaped her grasp for so long, desperation and greed found new paths. In an attempt to hold on to the power, deals were struck with beings unimaginable to humanity. Humans who were previously considered monsters became literal monsters. Armies of The Undead and Hell came crawling from the ground, taking out and slaughtering everyone who didn't kneel to them.
So once again, the hands of Justice were tied down, and unfairness reigned. But everything needs a balance, just like what a purple dude once said. So in the time of need when the scales were going beyond evil, the combined prayers, hopes and curses of people gave birth to an object, an object that would grant the required force to tip the scales to a more stable position.
And this object took on the form of a shining crown, encrusted with a series of rubies of various shapes, some shapes that are even impossible to exist. The crown fell from the sky and remained stuck there until one day, a young man by the name of Colt came across it.
Colt, like any other man of his age, wanted to make an honest living and please his supreme overlords, who reigned for years now. One day during an excavation quest, something shiny catches his eyes in the far distance, something that should not be able to shine this amount of light.
"Could it be a soldier...? I've heard of Sabres roaming this area but never would I think a soldier would be so far out here."
Sabres, just as the name implies, were a species of wild giant cats. But unlike normal Sabre tooths in our world, these creatures were imbued with magic, making them more agile and more fierce.Approaching the source of light, Colt realises the absence of blood or dismembered body parts, as is usual for Sabres to always leave behind pools of blood to mark territory, and as a waypoint to know where prey would usually hangout.
" A crown?... What's a crown doing smack in the middle of this..." The crown looked like it was stuck firmly in the ground soil and the surrounding flora had merged with it due to time.
"Easy money off of this, I bet it's some lost Overlord's crown." After digging it out and scraping the soil off of it, Colt mounted his horse and rode back to his farm to get it cleaned out more thoroughly.
