Tears flowed freely down my face as I tried to keep my cool. The flashing carnival lights danced around me as I sunk to my knees. My peripheral vision showed kids running by, happily screaming as they had the time of their lives.

It felt like time had slowed as I glanced all around me. Staring at my cracked phone screen my eyes got wide. Reading the message again and again I said to myself no. This can't be happening.

At this point I had collapsed with complete exhaustion and disbelief, the world around me felt surreal.

The clinks of ring toss could be heard, and the smell of funnel cake lingered all around my face. It could've been the perfect moment. But instead it was this. The agony tore through my heart as I struggled to get up. Gripping the wall I threatened to collapse again. No. I needed to get back to him. In between the two tents, I wiped my tears and walked shakily towards something... anything.

A hand was placed on my shoulder and I turned around. It was them. The person I had to break the news to.

A/n I really hope you all like this story, honestly this is my first one so it wont be the best. It should be about 30 or so chapters in the end.

Also, this is the shortest chapter in the whole thing, so dw it will get longer from here.

Word count: 240
