The rest of the afternoon was fairly simple. You hung out at the beach, you swam, and you had a great time.

Soon after you got back you packed your few things up and got ready to leave the next morning. The others all did the same. You ordered take out and ate that at the large dining room table.

You chatted with them while enjoying your food. You all really got to know each other, and over the course of that day, you had gotten closer to them all. You talked about your personal lives, and your families and well. everything.

At around 11:00 Wilbur decided it would be a good idea for everyone to go to bed and you didn't argue. You were drained from the whole day and needed some sleep. Telling the others goodnight you went over to your room.

After taking your shower, the boys were already asleep with the lights off, and you didn't want to wake them so you didn't turn on your phone. Instead you turned to your nightstand and picked up the small rock you had managed to get back here without anyone noticing.

Looking at it in the dark you thought of everything and nothing.

You thought of how Tommy was there for you, i mean, he was literally sleeping right above you. He was your best friend, and one of the only people who understands you.

He made you forget about all your insecurities and worries, he made you forget about the times when you weren't as happy. He made you feel something. Without him you would be in a very dark place.

tears dripped down your face as you thought of everything he meant to you. You needed him, and when you were at your worst, he was there. Without Tommy, you wouldn't have met all of these amazing people.

As you thought this to yourself it made you cry more. Not tears of sadness, but not of joy either. They were tears for the sake of Tommy. because of what could have been, and what is now.

A soft glimmer in the darkness revealed that he was on his phone in the bunk above you. He must not have been asleep, and heard you softly crying.

He climbed down his ladder carefully to not wake up Toby, and his eyes were locked on you the whole time, concern on his face.

"y/n? whats going on, did you have another bad dream." He whispered gently as he sat down next to you. Not too close though. You felt a twinge of sadness as you knew he probably thought you were scared of him.

"Oh no. nothing like that," you sniffled, "It's just... Tommy I don't know what I would do without you."

He looked surprised as you pulled into a hug and cried into his shoulder. He squeezed back and softly rubbed your back.

"hey, you don't have to worry about it. I've been here the whole time, and I am never going to leave, I can promise you that." He said.

You nodded and without words he moved to lay next to you under the sheets. He was radiating heat, and you lived for it. You still cried as you pulled in close to his sweatshirt. It felt like home. It felt like you were finally safe. Safe in the arms of the only person you have ever loved.

You loved Tommy like a best friend, and maybe more. whichever that may be, it didn't matter because you knew that you loved him more than anything.

Before you fell asleep you could feel him playing with your hair, and doing everything he could to make you comfortable. He was cautious with it all, but you could tell he wasn't upset with the situation. Under you he quietly hummed a tune you recognized as The Promise, by When in Rome.

i promise you i'm just thinking of the right words to say

i know they don't sound the way i planned them to be

but if you wait around a while i'll make you fall for me i promise

i promise you

just when Tommy thought you were asleep he whispered,

"I love you y/n. I promise."
