After Janelle's breakdown that night, Janelle had been off quiet. Jordan had been trying to talk to her and figure out what happened that night, but she hadn't opened up. They had been practicing more together, even more since Coach had done two-a-days, which by the way hurt like hell.
Janelle had been practicing as a linebacker and wide receiver, and Jordan was tossing her throws. Getting up early wasn't something Janelle liked doing, she was for sure a night owl, instead of an early bird, so waking up early wasn't very easy for her. Jordan and Spencer would pick her up because they knew she wasn't a morning person.
Janelle was up around 4:00 am, she was eating some pancakes she had made, and some eggs for a good source of protein. She hadn't slept that night because she had been doing her homework, and she was reading. But, that was just a distraction from her mind.
Janelle had been more in her mind these past couple of days. It was always about getting better at football, and being the team captain and starting QB. But now that she didn't have that guaranteed anymore, she had to focus on other ways she was going to get a scholarship, just in case, she wasn't going to be the star QB she wanted to be. It was a backup plan.
Football had been her dream since she could remember, so not being a starter QB, and the best player on the field, it irritated her. She was overthinking too much and getting into deep thought about how she wasn't good enough, but she hated overthinking so that's when she did her homework and read a couple of chapters of her favorite Manga.
Janelle's thoughts had been interrupted by a loud honk in the front. Janelle had rushed finishing her orange juice as she grabbed her stuff and jolted out the door. Janelle had given Jordan her gate passkey because he always had an excuse to pick her up or come over.
She locked the door behind her as she saw the red convertible and jumped into the back seat greeting the two boys.
"Good Morning, losers," Janelle said as she set her stuff down beside her where all the gear laid. She pulled out her phone from her pocket as the boys responded.
"Mornin!" the boys said in sync as Jordan began to drive to school.
Morning practices left Janelle sore every time she did them. She did them a lot back when she used to play for her old team in Arizona, but she always led them, giving her fewer workouts and drills to complete. She hated the morning already and practicing just made her hate them even more.
It was a pain in the ass. She had sweat everywhere, and when she said everywhere she meant everywhere. She had gotten off the field last because she was too tired to run into the building where the locker rooms were heard her name be called as she looked back.
"Janelle! Can we talk?" the coach said to his backup Quarterback, as she waited for him to catch up with her as she nodded.
"Um, I wanted to talk about the other night. Are you ok? Do we need to talk about it?" Coach asked, crossing his arms across his chest. He had been worried about her ever since she called him crying. He had been trying to talk to her all week, but something always came up, and he never got the chance to. Now that he does, he was going to take it.
"I'm all good, coach. I just had a bad day that day, and I guess I had my feelings more bottled up about It than I had thought. But seriously coach, I'm all good." Janelle convinced her football coach as she smiled at her response.
"Ok well, thank you for confiding in me to help you, and just remember you're welcomed into my home whenever you'd like, the kids like having you around, and so do I." The coach said as he patted the girl's shoulder as he smiled and walked away.
Janelle walked into the girl's locker room and she headed to the shower. She had some time before classes would begin so she took her time showering. She dried off and changed into her outfit which consisted of some black khaki jeans, and a cropped graphic-tee, she wore a black bomber jacket with a red cloud (if you know, you know ;) embroidered in the front, and she wore some black and red Jordan Ones.
