Training would be the only word Janelle had been doing for the past couple of weeks as both the playoffs, and more recently the combine were up.
In all honesty, Janelle hadn't been too excited about it. The combine was just a huge event in which Janelle was surrounded by a whole bunch of premature men and boys competing against one another for their own personal pride. Janelle wanted nothing to do with it.
She also was certain she would be eliminated for being a woman. In Arizona she would be invited and play, but she didn't know what the rules were in California, so she was already on edge if she was going to make it or not.
Janelle prepped her morning bag ready to head to the gym for some training before school, when the doorbell rang. This time, she knew who it was, as she had invited Adam's boy to go to the gym together, seeing as she thought that he should focus on trying to get back on the field as hard as he can, and she wanted to help him.
Janelle knew that all the boys on the team had been excluding Asher out of their bonding time, as it was Asher who tried to sabotage the game on Homecoming, and had faulted all their trust, but Janelle knew that Asher had seemed to reach his all-time low after coach kicked him off the team.
Some form of empathy Janelle felt that allowed her to move past what Asher had done for his own personal gains, and knew his intentions were not to harm them, but to feel like he had been useful, no matter to who. Janelle knew what cards she was playing with, and she just wanted to finally use them right.
"Ash, hey. I'm packing my bag, did you have anything to eat?" Janelle asked after she embraced him in a bear hug. Asher had tensed when he felt the girl's arms lay around his waist, but her warm aura and gentle way of being allowed his tenseness to leave his body and sink into the hug.
Janelle felt Asher shake his head as a response to her proposed question, as she pulled away from the hug. Her gaze met his tiresome eyes. "Well I had made breakfast so there was some left. The food is still pretty warm so help yourself." Janelle added as she walked away, up the stairs, stalking into her room.
Asher was stunned by how nice Janelle was to him. He almost ruined her life but she still found it in her to forgive him, and that made Asher that much more happy to have her as a friend.
Asher had been saving the talk. He had not gotten the chance to truly apologize to Janelle about what he had done, not just to the team, but to her as well. He had been trying to find the right words, but he couldn't, so he just decided to express the nothingness state of his mind instead, with a sincere and gentle "sorry". But, just as he was about to sit down and enjoy his freshly cooked meal, the doorbell rang yet again. This time, he and Janelle had no idea who it was, as it was only them that were going to work out together, no one else.
Asher decided to open the door. He didn't know who it was, and if it was someone dangerous, he would have a better fighting chance- well maybe not, Janelle took taekwondo for 11 years- once again, his intrusive thoughts let Asher believe he was at a disadvantage.
"I got it!" he yelled, hoping it would be loud enough for the curly-headed girl upstairs to hear as he approached the door, twisting the handle.
On the other side, he was met with chocolate brown eyes, in which he wasn't very familiar, as it was only a couple of moments he had ever peered into them.
As if he was waiting for the latter to speak, Asher stood there frozen, not knowing what to say. All he knew about the lover of the owner of the house he now seems to have stepped foot in, was that he was a baseball player, and that recently, he and Janelle hadn't really been speaking, at all and that it was all Jackson's fault.
