TO EACH THEIR OWN: TO ME ITS FODDER

just as the hills lay still
the painful thing sinks low
as the mountains stand on their own
my heart tries to mirror you

as the water flows through each pass
the clouds billow above
creatures have no will to hate
they live with themselves

the earth was whole
and we have split it
as i look up at the overhang
the plants have died

i say
if we will die soon why should i try
in a billion years everything will begin again
and the earth will grow to be whole

i think
i wish i was one with the world
so graceful alone
unthinking

i feel the breeze over my skin
fleeting desires
sentimental attachments that break so easily
they soberly swipe the tears from my face

my darkest mindWhere stories live. Discover now
