We went to the location and got off the car. Jimin's father was waiting inside for us. So we went to him and greeted them. He welcomed us warmly. When we were talking to each other, a middle-aged couple came to talk to us but Jimin and his father didn't even care about them and were busy with their own talks.
It seems like Jimin and his father don't like them. Who are they?
That was the question wandering around my mind. But once that woman started to speak, my mind started to overflow with lots of questions.
"What a great response to your mom Jimin. It seems like your dad has never taught you any manners."
Does that mean she is Jimin's mom? Are his parents divorced then? Who is the man next to her? Is that her current husband?
"See who is talking about manners." Jimin said in a mocking tone.
It seemed like she became speechless with Jimin's cold words. Then the man next to her started to speak.
"Did you think that I will stay still after sending my daughter to jail, because of someone like this?" He said pointing his finger at me.
So he must be Jihyun's father. Does that mean Jihyun is Jimin's step-sister?
I got another question. I don't understand a thing. I was hanging into Jimin's arm as I was scared of the man in front of me. I forgot to say that Jihyun was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the court a week ago. Her parents had appealed but it got dismissed.
"It was you who couldn't raise your daughter properly. Do I look like a fool to stay still when she broke into my house and tried to kill my wife?" Jimin shouted at him with anger.
Almost everyone around us paid attention to us. I heard them whispering to each other about Jihyun's incident. I think the rumors got spread over the staff. I saw the couple in front of us was very uncomfortable with the special attention. But Jimin didn't stop.
"No wonder. You guys also won't hesitate to kill someone for money. Greediness probably comes down from DNA in your family." Jimin said.
The sudden sally was too much for them to handle. I saw Jimin's mom broke into tears and ran away after being embarrassed. Her husband also followed her from behind. The 3 of us also walked away from there. We sat down and a waiter served us different kinds of beverages. Jimin and his father took a wine glass each and I took a glass of fruit juice as my alcohol tolerance is too low. I wanted to ask Jimin about what happened before, but I couldn't bring myself to do so as I knew he would get angry at me if I did. I was immersed in my thoughts for a while.
"Are you thinking about what happened earlier?" I came back to my senses with Jimin's words.
I nodded. Then he told me a long story.
It turned out that the woman is Jimin's mom and the man is Jimin's uncle. (His father's younger brother) When Jimin was young, Jimin's father was almost bankrupted. So his grandpa had decided to pass down the company to Jimin's uncle who was a widower with a daughter (Jihyun). After hearing that, Jimin's mom divorced his dad and got married to Jimin's uncle. But after Jimin and his father succeeded in redeveloping the company, grandpa changed his opinion. So, they tried to marry off their daughter to Jimin but failed to do so.
While we were talking and sipping on our drinks, Jimin's grandfather arrived and went to the podium, and started his speech. After talking about the goals that the company achieved this year and thank the employees and shareholders of the company, the time to announce the heir had come.
"I'm thankful to everyone who supported me until now and I hope you will do the same to the next chairman. I'm too old now to be the chairman of this company and that's why I'm stepping down as the chairman. First of all, I thought to pass down my company to one of my sons, but I changed my decision." He said.
I heard everyone gasped in surprise. Everyone thought that Jimin's dad would inherit the company. Jimin looked at his dad's face. He was also dumbfounded.
