What the fresh hell?

Two hours and that dick of a demon had failed to show up.

I growled irritably before standing from my laid out position on the grass.

Fine, if he wouldn't come to me I'd go to him.

I took in a breath and closed my eyes.

I sensed him somewhere off closer to the middle of the city- of course. He always needed to be in the center of attention.

I let out a groan of frustration before I crouched down and then jumped, mid air I released my wings and took flight while carefully avoiding being seen.

My eyes scanned below until I caught sight of the flaming moron named Semis. He had a couple of demons lounging around him, as they sat they laughed easily, unbothered by the chaos they had caused around them.

Fire burned around them while human ran about screaming or calling out to others.

I dropped down in front of him with my arms crossed.

"Awe, you look like an upset dad. Are you gonna scold me?" Semis laughed, still leaned back lazily.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I pursed my lips.

"I'm doing whatever the hell I want- obviously." The demon motioned around at the chaos with a cocky grin.

"Of course you are, it's not like you could do anything important anyways. You're nothing but scum, not even your soul is worth taking." I lowered my voice, "So I'll just have to get rid of it permanently."

I watched the demon sober slightly, "Man, what's got you all serious? Such a Debby downer."

I let go of my human form with a growl.

"Awe, come on Luce, you know I like to be the center of attention, now I've gotta switch too." Semis sighed dramatically before dropping his human form to reveal his true one, horns and all.

I didn't respond and instead charged at him, like I usually did. I watched him smirk at my normal attack but it died when I smirked back.

I jumped up and then shot to the left mid air. I landed before sending a kick to his side. He grunted before he stumbled sideways. I wasted no time before adding a right hook to his stomach.

"Damn, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Semis raised an eyebrow.

"No, you just naturally piss people off. It's your personality... and poor fashion sense." I retorted at him.

"Excuse me, I am a ray of sunshine. You are a cloud that carries the promise of hail." Semis rolled his eyes before throwing out his hands. "And my fashion sense is impeccable."

A wave of red magic pressed like an arc in my direction and I threw my own hands out to counter it with my own magic. "Do you even know what that word means?"

Our power clashed together with sparks, red meeting my black. I grunted with force as I willed myself to bump it up a notch. Black began to overpower red and I grinned.

"Of course I do." The demon grinned. "It means I am flawless, it also means I'm always a step ahead of you."

My brows furrowed in confusion as our magic died out. I crouched, ready for an oncoming attack but I was met with Semis' laid back expression.

"Bring out the kid and the demon." The cause of all my stress and anger commanded, a shit eating grin on his face.

That bitch.

My fists clenched at my sides as three demons approached from the shadows. The one that held my precious Cade had one arm around his waist and his other held its deadly claws against his throat. The other two demons were struggling to keep my only friend at bay. She was stringing out every curse imaginable and it only took a glance to see she had given the two demons absolute hell.

Both demons were cut up and bruised. They looked like they had been thrown through a meat grinder. She would probably have broken free by now if there were not claws only centimeters from Cade's neck.

She was absolutely livid, but her anger could not rival mine.

Semis had Cade- my human- held as a means to protect himself. It was the only reason he was alive and he knew it.

I took in the distance between Cade and me. There was no way I would be able to make it to him before the demon slit his throat.

I couldn't make it in time, but my eyes wandered over to my demon friend, Lila could.

There was no way those demons captured her that easily so they must have got a hold of Cade and she must have let them capture her to stay by his side.

She could break free and grab him but she would need a distraction. My eyes met hers.

She already knew the plan.

Ayyye, I updated! This is technically the second to last chapter including the epilogue, but the story is finally coming to an end. I honestly never planned to finish it but the pestering comments of 'update' really brought up some motivation. The last chapter and the epilogue won't take long to write because I've already got a rough draft of them both from, like, four years ago but anyways yay! We're close to the end!
