Okay so I might have lowkey forgot about the epilogue for a while, I got covid, moved into an apartment, started a new job- quit that job, got my cat fixed, finally got internet, and kicked my roommates out. Sorry it's been so long but here it finally is- the end!

••

I sat back against my throne. My eyes scanned the burning landscape around me with dull eyes.

I watched disinterestedly as a demon appeared in front of me.

"Sir, the intake of souls has regained balance. Everything is back to normal."

Normal.

Everything was the same but at the same time nothing was.

Cade's smile waddles it's way into my mind causing me to clench my teeth.

I could practically hear his laugh- his nickname for me.

"Speaking of souls-" the demon continued.

"Leave me." I spat, irritated that the he was still in my sights.

I wanted to be alone.

Forever.

"But sir-"

"I said leave me."

I lifted my hand to shoo him away but he did not leave.

"Listen, Jonny,-" I started.

"But my name isn't Jonny, it's Tony." The demon assistant frowned.

"Okay, Jonny, I don't give a shit. If you don't leave me alone I'm going to burn you to a crisp and then eat you." I threatened.

"Fine, I don't get paid enough to be fried and eaten anyways. Someone else can tell you." The demon grumbled before snapping his fingers.

"I definitely pay you enough to be fried and-" My words were cut off as he left, "That little bitch."

I leaned back against my seat with a huff. Demons now-a-days asked for more than they were worth.

There was another pop and yet another demon appeared in front of me. I breathed in deeply.

"What do you want?" I asked her as she placed her clip board under her arm.

"Well, I was going to tell you but you don't seem in the mood so I suppose I'll just go." She shrugged but I held out a hand to stop her.

"No, tell me." I relented.

"I think I'll just show you." Her grin was sharp as she stepped aside.

My heart would have stopped if I had one.

"Kitty?" Asked an all too familiar voice. A voice I thought I would never hear again.

"Cade?" I looked him over. He was wearing the same clothes he had on the night he died. He also had tears streaming down his face.

Cade's eyes lit up before he made a mad dash toward me. He clashed against my chest and wrapped his arms around me. I stiffened slightly before pulling him closer to me.

I was unfamiliar with affection but coming from Cade it was nice.

"I missed you kitty!" Cade sniffed into my shirt, "I thought I wouldn't get to see you again."

"Me too," I frowned, "Why are you down here?"

Cade let go and looked up at me, "Apparently being in love with Satan is a sin."

I nearly choked, in love?

Unholy shit.

"You-You're in love with me?"

Idiot, why was that the thing I asked.

"Well, I think so." He muttered as he laced and unlaced his hands.

"Leave it to the old man to kick out the most innocent person to ever exist." I rolled my eyes.

"Old like you."

"Excuse me? Do I look old to you?" I turned dramatically.

"Yes." Cade answered too fast, his giggles hidden behind his hand.

I shot a warning glare at the demon who had brought Cade to me. She coughed in an attempt to hide her laugh.

"You can leave." I stated irritably.

She winked at Cade and then left in a cloud of smoke. I turned my attention back to Cade who was now distracted by whatever was behind me. I turned to look.

"You want to sit on my throne?" I mused at his wide eyes.

"Is it made out of... you know... dead people?" He whispered, his eyes still on the chair.

"Yep." I grinned.

Cade's eyes went wide but I cut him off.

"I'm just kidding, it's not. It's made out of boring stuff like metal and fabric." I didn't want to see him cry.

"Go sit on it" I urged and watched as he took hesitant steps in its direction.

I laughed when he touched it to see if it was hot.

After a moment he actually sat down and a grin spread its way across his face and then turned dramatically serious.

"You!," he pointed at a demon walking by, "Get me some ice cream!"

The demon looked from Cade to me. Confused written all over his face.

"You heard the kid." I laughed.

"Wow, is that your commanding voice?" I asked Cade.

He turned to me with the same serious expression and I swear I almost pissed myself when he said "yes." In a deep voice.

Hell was going to be a lot more fun with him around.
