NARRATOR'S POV
"Let me get the pills from the bedroom for you, you need to take it now." Hugh said.
"Ok, I will have to call my mom before she comes tomorrow." She said and he kissed her before leaving for the bedroom.
"Say hi to her for me." He said.
"I will." When he was gone, she picked her phone and decided to call her mom on FaceTime, she answered immediately.
"Hi baby, how are you doing, I have missed you." Her mom said.
"I am fine mommy, how are you doing too?" She asked.
"I am doing great, just tired and thank God I have been given a week off from the hotel." She said.
"I have told you to stop stressing yourself out, I am on scholarship and I earn enough from the tutoring job I am doing here, the monthly payment I receive can take care of me for two months so you shouldn't worry about me." She told her.
"What if you are asked to stop tutoring him, how are you going to survive if I don't work? And besides I need a lot of money to rent a new place for us, we have been given just a month to leave this place." Her mother said.
"I will try to get some other job to help me with my needs so don't worry, and I will talk to my boyfriend to help us get an apartment in his father's estate, I will help you pay for it." She said.
"You have a boyfriend already, Jasmine? And you didn't tell me?" Her mother asked.
"I am sorry Mommy, I know I should have told you before now but I wasn't sure if he was serious about the whole thing until now. You are going to meet him tomorrow." She explained.
"Oh My God, Jasmine how could you?" Her mother complained.
"Mommy I am sorry, he is a good guy." She said.
"I am not mad at you for having a boyfriend but why did you kept it a secret from me?" She asked.
"I am sorry." She said.
"How long have you been going out with him?" She asked.
"A month or two ago." She said.
"Ok, but you should take care of yourself and be a good girl." Her mother advised.
"I will mommy." She said.
"Where are you, are you in your hostel?" Her mother asked. She was taken aback by the question but she has never lied to her mom.
"Uhm.. please don't be angry." She said.
"You are at his place, right?" Her mother asked.
"Uhm ye ye yes." She stuttered.
"Like I said earlier Jasmine, you are eighteen and I can't dictate for you but you should make sure your relationship with him don't be a distraction to your studies, you know how life is for us and so you should make me proud and change our livelihood." Her mother said.

"I promise mommy, I will make you proud." She said and her mother smiled. Hugh walked into the sitting room clad in a black round neck shirt with a grey joggers. He sat beside Jasmine and before she could tell him her mother is on the phone, a kiss landed on her cheek. She opened her mouth to talk but no word came, Hugh turned his attention to what she was doing on the phone, his jaw dropped.
