Prologue:

Miki's POV:

When the bell rang I headed straight to the parking lot. It was winter break but there was no snow in Cali . Thank god.

I passed by a bunch of my friends who either said bye to me, or told me they'd see me at the party tonight. I smiled at them and said whatever came to my mind at that time.

I got in my car, which I got last year for my 16th birthday, it was a dark green jeep and I love it. When I got home I ran up to my room ignoring my parents who were calling out to me. I had to get ready! This party is going to be sweet!

I swung open my closet doors and found them empty! WTF?!

"AHH!!!" I screamed. I turned around and saw two luggage bags on my bed. I sighed in relief and wiped imaginary sweat off my forehead.

I could hear feet stomping up the stairs and my door being slammed open. My dad entered looking around frantically with my mom behind him holding a bat, ready to swing.

"What the hell is going on?" I demanded, putting one of my hands on my hips and pointing the other at my luggage.

"Don’teverscream like that! Geez, we thought you were about to be killed or something!" My dad said glaring after checking the coast was clear.

"Whatever." I said rolling my eyes. "Wouldn’t you freak out if you found your clothes missing? I mean, what would I wear to the party tonight?" He gave me a blank look. He shook his head and turned to my mom.

"Honey, you talk to your daughter. She usually isn’t this blonde." I gasped at him as he left the room.

My mom put the bat against the wall and led me to the bed. We sat down and she put her hands on my shoulder and smiled.

"Guess what?" she asked.

"Um, You-"

"Your going to your grand parent’s house in Colorado for winter break!" she interrupted excitedly.

"What?!" I yelled standing up. I looked at her like she had had an eye in the middle of her forehead and two heads. She probably does, most moms do.

"Oh shush! Mom and Dad will be so happy to see theironlygrandchild! You should be excited too! And while your gone we'll be on a business trip so this works out perfectly!" she was smiling brightly making her face light up.

"But what about the party to-" I started.

"No if, and, or buts, the decision is final," she interrupted, again. "Honey we just want you to spend time with them. We don’t know how long they have, and the last time you saw them you were in single digits."

"I know that mom, but I promised everyone I was going to bring the beer." I whined.

"You always go to parties, and tonight won’t be any different. Your flight leaves at 6, ours at 7. I packed your clothes; you need to pack everything else. While you’re at it cancel your other plans and say bye to everyone." She kissed my head and left.

"It’s not like I’m moving!" I screamed after her. "Right?"

"Sure honey!" she screamed back.

[3 hours later]

I stepped out of the taxi and put my sunglasses on. I looked around for my parents and saw them getting out of their own taxi. The taxi guy got my luggage out of the trunk as I slung my bag over my shoulder.

"Thank you." I told the guy flashing him a smile. I’m pretty, pretty wild and awesome but I admit I can be a bit blond. He smiled back showing me that some of his teeth were missing. My smiled twitched a bit. I took my luggage from him and fumbled with it, taking a step back too.
