Ivy's POV:
Nasty words, mean nothing. Getting my hair pulled, I can handle. Getting slapped, stung. Punched and kicked, painful. Slammed to the floor, wall, getting choked. Well it knocks the breath outta me.
This happens to me every night, one way or the other. Tonight was no different.
Except for the fact that my dad is whipping me with a belt this time. And he was using the buckle.
After Tyler left dad came home whistling. Thats one bad sign.
Im used to it though. Im used to the pain, covering it up, keeping my mouth shut during and after the beatings, all those things. Just to make sure I wont get caught.
My dad is not the loving type. He always had a temper. So whenever he would lose money, either on bets or gambling, he would take his anger out on me. Whenever he's high he would do it for fun. And when he's drunk his friends would do it.
He's all I have though. He's the only one that connects me to my mom. Not to mention the will my mom left me. But I could only touch it when Im 18 or when my dad is gone. But Im not gonna kill him. Im not a sick person like him. I just need to wait a few more weeks till im 18.
The belt hit me across my face. That made my nose throb and eye hurt. I should've kept my eyes close. I hissed in pain but bit my tongue from making any further noises. I will not let him have the satisfaction of hearing me scream.
On the bright side he didnt tell me to take my pants off and lay down because lets face it. If he did that would hurt even more. Currently he lost a lot of money from the way this beating is.
A few minutes later he thought I had enough. He put his belt back on and left without a glance back at me. His only daughter against a dark corner. Probably went to a whore house or something. I dont even know where he gets all the money from.
All I know was that he was gonna be drunk when he gets back and its not a good idea to stay. So I went up to my room and grabbed my hoodie, knowing one place where I would be safe.
Tears were running down my face and stinging at the places where there was belt marks. I had dozens of them all over my back, legs, and arms.
I ran out of the house and to the ghetto place in town. I knew my dad wouldnt look for me cause he would be wasted but probably his friends were. I shivered from the thought of them. I had bad experiences with them but I didnt tell anyone. It was a secret.
Even though this place is so ghetto it felt like home. People here were really friendly. Well only to the people in this neighborhood but they consider me a part of it.
I reached the house to the end of the neighborhood and went to the side till I found his window. I knocked on it and waited for him to open it. It was really windy making my face sting more. But this wasnt as bad as the beatings.
He finally looked out the window and when he saw it was me he froze. He then proceeded to open the window as fast as he could and helped me in.
Once I was in he lead me to the bed and he just held me. I was done crying but I was shaking. He rubbed my back soothingly whispering comforting words in my ear.
"Your not gonna go through this alone, okay Ivy? Im here for you." he paused. "I love you." he whispered sincerely.
"I love you, too, Jake." i hiccuped but smiled nonetheless.
