VIOLETAs I handed the coffee to Ace he mummured some words of appreciation and firmly instructed me to sit.
"Mike good morning." Ace said in a not too friendly manner
"Ace, Violet. Good morning." Mike replied coldly as I mummered a response.
"Why'd you like lying? We're bestfriends we're not suppossed to lying to each other." Mike said staring at me, expressionless.
"I have a faint memory of them and I don't think we should use the best friend tag anymore. I think we're better off as friends." I said in one breath.
"And why is that so?" Mike asked, his eyes darting to Ace for a second.
Ace raised his head and said,"Simply because one of us has a feeling that's over friendship for the other" He stated plainly shocking Mike.
"You have a girlfriend." Ace said staring at Mike fully
"This isn't about me."
"Then why are you concerned?" I ask interrupting the incoming argument.
"You're my friend." He simply states boring holes into Ace
Ace squeezes my hand slightly and sends me an apologetic look that I didn't understand.
"Then why are you so concerned that she has someone she really loved and that she loved him to the extent of loosing her memories because of him. Why does it bother you so much?" Ace asks glaring at Mike who somewhat seems suddenly angry.
"You don't get it do you? I love you. I love you so much it drives me crazy. You consumed my entire being from the very first day on the court. Your laughter, your smile, the way you scrunch your nose in disgust anytime I make nasty remarks, the way you try not to be too girly, your perfection..." He let out a shaky breathe.
"And I know, I'm with Chloè but that doesn't stop me from loving you. I can't think straight, you're all I think about. I know I've been the shittiest person in the past few weeks but you can't blame me. Do you know how hard it is to let someone you truely love go? Its so fucking hard. But you can't understand." He said followed by a humourless laughter.
"I just wish you could understand. Having Chloè was just a distraction to get my mind off the fact that you'd never want me. You'd never see me as nothing but a best friend and I'm honestly tired of that role. I want more but it hurts because..."
He paused for a moment and drew a long shaky breath,"Just forget I said all this."
"Do you know what love is?" Ace asked with an unreadable expression.
"I don't think I do." Mike said in defeat as his shoulders slumped to his sides in defeat.
"Love is letting go even when it hurts the most. Love is seeing her happy with another guy, as long as she's happy. Love is respecting her wishes every single time even when it hurts you. Love is being there even when the world is caving in. That's love." Ace said moving to Mike as they shared a brotherly hug.
"Didn't even get a say in all this." I with a small laugh trying to kill the building tension in the kitchen.
"Bitch!" A pained voice said as we all stared at each other in shock.
We looked around and saw nothing until Ace's phone rung.
After talking for over five minutes with a blank expression, Ace finally drops his phone and startes at us in shock.
"Hope its not what I'm thinking? Oh my gawd. Ace-" I gushed out as I reached out to give him a big hug.
"Thanks for the free hug Lettuce." Ace said making me burn in embarrassment as I remembered our kiss the night before.
