MR SCHUESTER HAD A SPECIAL GUEST THAT WASN'T MISS PILLSBURY, BUT HE DIDN'T LOOK TOO HAPPY ABOUT IT. Standing at the front of the choir room, he gave out a forced smile and tried to hide his own frustration at having Bryan Ryan in the room as he introduced him to the glee club, "okay guys, this is Mr Ryan, he's a member of the school board and he would like to say a few words." Just as Mr Ryan went to open his mouth to speak, Mr Schue had interjected worriedly, "I just want you guys to listen critically, and know that what he's saying is one of many opinions."

As Mr Schue finally sat down, Katy and Quinn exchanged a skeptical glance, seeing straight through his nerves before focusing their attention over to the stern voice of Bryan Ryan, "take out a piece of paper. And on that piece of paper, I want you to write down your biggest dream, a dream that means so much you're afraid to even admit it to yourself."

Reaching into her backpack, Katy dug out her notebook and a pen, knowing exactly what she wanted to write and scribbling it down with a huge smile on her face. But her smile was soon wiped away when Mr Ryan ruthlessly stepped forward and ripped the piece of paper from Artie's notebook and crumpled it into a ball and threw it into the waste bin.

"Oh." She mumbled, a sad pout coming to her face.

"Your dream is never going to happen." Mr Ryan insisted, "ninety-one percent of you will spend your entire lives living in Allen County, Ohio. So unless you wrote down that your dream was to work for a mid-market health insurance provider or find an entry level job in an elderly care facility, you're going to be disappointed."

Looking round at everyone else's fallen expressions, Mercedes felt her shoulders slump, "this is really depressing."

But things were about to get even more depressing for most of the glee club as Bryan Ryan continued, "I'm going to guess that a lot of your dreams involve showbiz." Seeing the nods, he rolled his eyes, "well let me tell you that showbiz dreams are the most unrealistic of them all."

"But that's what I want to do with my life." Tina spoke up slowly, clearly trying to keep herself from falling apart.

"Oh look, I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, I'm just trying to spare you the disappointment."

Seeing the slight tremble in Tina's lips, Mr Schue had had enough, getting out of his seat to intervene, "I think we get your point."

"Ah, well Mr Schuester here is a prime example." Mr Ryan directed everyone's attention over to Mr Schue, "He used to have that glimmer of hope in his eyes that I see now in all of yours. But he couldn't make it happen for himself, so now he has to try and convince you all that it'll happen for you. Guess what. His dream didn't come true and neither will yours."
