IT WAS SCHOOL PICTURES WEEK AND KURT NEEDED TO MENTALLY PREPARE THE GROUP FOR WHAT WAS TO COME. Leading into the choir room with a bundle of thunderclaps under his arm, he slammed them down on the piano and called everyone around it, "where's Rachel?" He checked, immediately, scanning the room.
"She's not here yet." Katy answered with a smile.
"Perfect. Glee club stands on a delicate precipice. We've all felt the come humiliation of a slushy in the face." Kurt began, looking round at the nodding group, "but as of right now, our relative anonymity as a club shields us from more severe persecution — swirlies, patriotic wedgies —"
"What's a patriotic wedgie?" Mercedes frowned.
"It's where they hoist you up the flagpole by your undies." Finn told her, with a guilty chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck, hinting that he may've taken part in patriotic wedgies in the past whilst Artie recalled his experience.
Taking his conversation back to the thunderclaps, Kurt continued on, "based on my investigation, I am of the opinion that a yearbook photo would only fuel the flames of anti-glee club-terror." Going through some examples of past glee club abuse only made the group want a photo less. Terrified, they all nodded along in full agreement as Kurt came to his conclusions, "I think I speak for all of us when I say that not having to pose for a yearbook photo might be a blessing in disguise. I suggest not fighting against Figgins' ruling."
Strolling into the choir room, the beam on Mr Schue's face only got bigger as he caught sight of the old yearbooks scattered on the piano, "oh hey guys, ah, looking at old thunderclaps?"
"It's really unsettling." Artie shuddered.
"And totally unfair." Mr Schue insisted, obviously not getting the vibe that no one in glee club was eager to have their photo taken, "hey can I borrow one of these?" Taking one of the thunderclaps in his arms, he used it in dramatic effect, "you know what? This years thunderclap is going to have a glee club photo with every single one of your smiling faces you have my word."
Full of his own confidence, Mr Schue hadn't given anyone chance to protest and was marching out of the choir room, leaving everyone looking round at each other with deep, nervous sighs.

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE ANY PHOTO AT ALL, THE GLEE CLUB NEEDED TO PICK ONLY TWO MEMBERS TO REPRESENT THEM. As they made their way to the deciding glee club meeting, Kurt and Mercedes knew there was only one person who would possibly jeopardise themselves to make sure Rachel wasn't alone.
Catching up with her in the hallway, they snuck up on each side of Katy Puckerman and linked their arms in hers. Smiling back at her, they were quick to get to the point, "you can't do this to yourself, Katy."
