WHEN RACHEL STORMED OUT OF THE LAST REHEARSAL, SHE DIDN'T COME BACK. With her now off in the lead of cabaret, Quinn had taken her part in 'Don't Stop Believing' for sectionals. It was all going smoothly and sounding beautiful until she started to dance and immediately needed to throw up.
Sensing the slight loss of moral at their loss of one of their most powerful performers, Mr Schue had taken nervous action and called the glee club to the choir room. Instead of focusing on the beautiful voices of Mercedes, Tina, Santana, Quinn, Brittany or even Katy, he'd decided to bring back a small, very pretty woman who looked about his age to take centre stage.
Examining the lady, Katy sent her a shy wave, becoming conscious that she was probably staring and beginning to go red with embarrassment until she sent her a wave back.
Mr Schue seemed a lot more excited than the group as she held his hands out to introduce the woman, "guys, I'd like to introduce you to someone very special. This is April Rhodes, she's our newest member of glee club."
Despite her clear enthusiasm, April wasn't met with much excitement from the still gloomy group, except for Katy, who cheered shyly and Puck, who was practically undressing her with his eyes.
Furrowing his eyebrows deeply, Finn spoke up a little too loudly, "wait, so old people can join glee club now?" He asked, turning immediately to Katy, "can my mom join?!"
"I hope so!" She cheered excitedly.
Overhearing them with her eyebrows raised cockily, April placed her hands onto her hips as she spoke, "old huh? You guys look like the world's worst Benetton ad."
Raising his hand, Artie was skeptical, "Mr Schuester, this seems like a terrible idea." He hissed.
"April's a great singer, and she's never graduated." Mr Schuester defended his actions, despite the unsure glances he was getting.
"We appreciate what you're trying to do, but she's no Rachel." Mercedes sighed. That made Katy frown. Rachel was certainly very talented but that didn't mean that anyone else wasn't.
"Who's Rachel?" April questioned, quickly.
"Sh-she's king of our star." Tina told her, with a shrug of her shoulders.
Taking a step back and moving her arms so they were crossed across her chest, April seemed completely ready to challenge this, "your star, eh? Well where is she?"
"She left." Kurt explained bluntly, "to be the lead in cabaret."
A smirk rising onto her lips, April whipped round to address the piano player, taking her jacket off slowly, "hey Brad, give me 'Maybe This Time' in B flat. Don't let me catch you snoozing."
Katy made the mistake of looking over towards her brother, shuddering as she saw him practically whimpering at the sight of April loosing her jacket.
