"OH SO ADVENTUROUS!"
MR SCHUE HAD FELT THAT THE GLEE CLUB WERE SLACKING OFF A BIT and decided to try and motivate them with a bit of friendly competition.
Pointing towards a board he'd made, he introduced the lesson with enthusiasm, "competition!" He began, "everyone one of these people or elements was a champion in its own rights. But they use competing with each other to make themselves better."
"I don't see how lightning and an above ground swimming pool are in competition." Kurt frowned.
"Maybe Zeus and Poseidon had a fight." Katy whispered in reply, shrugging as Kurt turned to look at her in amusement, eventually agreeing this to be the most logical option.
Giving them a strange look, Mr Schue continued on, "just go with it. You guys have become complacent. You were great at the invitational, but you wanna up your game if you wanna get through sectionals." He told them, making Katy bite down on her lip slightly out of nervousness, "okay guys on the left side, girls on the right side."
With a little encouragement, the group started to move into their two groups. Giving them both a small wave and a pout, Katy shuffled from her natural position between Mike and Matt to stand next to Brittany. Eventually everyone was in the right place, except Kurt.
"Kurt. Boys team." Mr Schuester said firmly, making Katy frown. If Kurt felt more comfortable on the girls team then Mr Schue should let him be, she thought. But she didn't say anything as Kurt had already reluctantly moved across the room to stand with the guys. Eager to explain, he'd moved away from the board with a clap of his hands, "right. Two teams — boys versus girls — one week from today you will each perform a mash up of your choice."
"What's a mash up?" Puck asked, with a raised eyebrow.
"A mash up is where you take two songs and mash 'em together to make an even richer version of musical expression." Mr Schue explained, although Katy wasn't entirely sure it helped, "boys will perform on Tuesday, girls the next day. I want you to go all out. Costumes and choreography and everything. Whoever wins the competition gets to choose the number for sectionals."
Sticking her hand into the air immediately, Rachel wasn't going to let anything get in the way of her winning, "wait. Whose going to judge? Your gender makes you biased."
With Mr Schuester explaining the celebrity judge, the girls crowded together, filled with confidence and ambition. Especially when they looked over to see Finn practically sleepwalking and Matt and Mike more busy play fighting with Katy to bother about any competition.

SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY UP WITH THE GUYS AND THE GIRLS COULD SENSE IT. Watching open mouthed as they performed an incredibly energy filled mash up of 'Its My Life' and 'Confessions', they tried to ignore Rachel's insistent whispered of 'I told you so's' and instead cheered on the guys, in a way that didn't make them look completely shocked at their efforts.
