As soon as we got home I spent my time locked up in my house wisely. When ever my mom wasn't paying attention to me I would sneak up in to the attic. It was a lot bigger than I thought. It had been almost 2 weeks now and I was barely through the first half of it. It was going to take forever to find that money my dad hid for me. If he did hide it.

Most of the boxes I found were tax stuff or old pictures, but one box mark Christmas caught my eye today. I grabbed the box and my flash light and sat in a corner.

I opened the box up and looked down at the photo on top. It was of all of us. Cole and I's family one Christmas. We looked about 11 or 12 in the picture.

Smiling to myself the memory of that Christmas started to flood my mind.

"What did you ask for this year?" I ask Cols trying to distract him from the game so I could win. It was his newest game and he had and the only one he could beat me at.

"An actual challenge at this game." cole smirked taking my last life in the game.

"Haha very funny smarty pants." I took his controller and threw it across him room landing on his band.

"Hey!" he crossed his arms."Your jist mad that I creamed you."

"You're right. Little Cole actually beat me at his own game for once." I ruffled his hair and sat up on his floor.

"What did you ask for?"

He tried to fix his now messed up hair.

"Dylan mom wants to know if you're gonna make the cookies!"Lilly screamed at my face.

"To be an only child." I wishpered to Cole. "Tell her I'll be down in a little bit to make them."

"I'm not telling her anything. You can get up and do it yourself." She walked out and slammed the door.

"Dude your sister is a bitch." Cole spat once the door was closed.

"What did you just say?"

"I said she's a bitch."

My mouth dropped to the floor. "You cussed. Oh I'm so telling!" I started to make my way towards the door.

"No you're not."he shouted and tackled me down to the ground.

We started wrestling on the ground until he had me pinned.

"You're not saying anything to anyone." He said closing the space between us.

Looking back on that I think that was the first time I started to have feelings for Cole in more than a brotherly friend way.I wanted to kiss Cole.

I guess he wanted that too because the next thing I knew his lips were on mine. I had no clue what we were doing but it felt right. Even at 12 I knew what I wanted right than and there. Him.

The memory stopped and I thought for a minute. That was my real first kiss in Cole's room. I smiled a little to myself and tried to remember what happened next. There had to ba a reason I made myself forget about that moment.

The memory started to play again in my head.

"Dylan why didn't you- Oh my good heavens!" My mother shouted. "What are you two doing!"

Cole froze on my lips looking up at my mother in terror. I pushed him off of me and wipped my mouth.

"Dylan Katherine Jacobs what in heavens name are you doing." she grabbed me by my arm yanking me up from the ground."I did not raise a slut of a daughter. Why are you up here kissing thia boy. You're only 12 years old! Do you want to be pregant by the time you turn 14." she cared on while caring me down the stairs.

"Honey what's going on?" my dad asked looking at my mom like she was crazy.

"Do you know what your daughter was doing while she was up stairs with this boy?"

"Playing video games and rough housing like normal." My dad said stating what he thought was the obvious.

"Yeah they were playing house alright. but not the little kid version. more like the adult married couple version." She said looking down at me in disgust.

I herd foot steps coming from behind me. I didn't have to turn around to know it was Cole.

"What are you talking about?" My dads face was now puzzeled looking back and forth from me to cole to my mother.

"Why don't you tell your father." she threw me forward.

"Me and Cole were wrestling and he finally won and had me pinned down. and-"

"What's so bad about that?" he interrupted me looking at my mom for the answer and Cole's dad for back up if my mom blew up on him.

"Let her finish." she snapped." Go on Dylan."

"And we kinda kissed. But that was all Daddy I swear."I flung myself into his arms cry.

My dad wrapped his arms around me as tear spilled out of my eyes. Wait these were real tears. I wipped my eyes trying to calm myself down.

I miss my dad more thinking about all the times he protected me from my mom when she set out to destroy me. I put the picture back and the box and smiled wiping the last tear in my eyes. I now have another memorie of my dad to hold onto when things get rough.

I was about to close the box when I saw a key I had never sedn in my whole life. I grabbed it and felt the groves in it. My fingers slid over a weird grove that felt like letters. I turned over the key and shined my flashlight on where my fingers laid.

"DKJ." Those are my initials. I stared blankly at the key. Why is this in here. I put the key in my pocket and begain to search through the book again.

I pulled out everything in the book but found nothing. I sighed. This was no hope. I put everything back in the box and closed it. I meantally checked the box off of my list of boxes to go trough.

I exited the attic and ran to my room. I looked through my draw for some string or a chain. I pulled out my gold chain that I never wear and slipped the loop on the key into the chain. I placed the key neckless around my neck and plopped on my bed.

Think Dylan hidden money,a key- what are you missing? Oh yeah that's right the money and whatever the hell this key opens up.

Ahhh could my life get anymore like a freaken book!
