Chapter 9

"Dylan I've got it!"

"What?" I said in a daze still waking up from my cray dream last night.

"We can run away."He say with a duh tone to his voice.

"Run away where Cole?"

"Run away to L.A!" I looked at him like he was crazy.

"L.A? Cole do you know how far away that is from where we live?"

"So we can still go."

"How would we get there?"

"We can take a bus or a train."

"I don't think they go all the way to L.A babe."

"If they don't we can walk."

"Walk? Yeah right, you could barely make it up the hill the other day let alone walk to California."

"I could do it if it ment our happiness away from this hell hole." I looked up at him now knowing he wasn't crazy. I thought about it. We had always wanted to go to California together. He said if we ever did go I would get discovered for being so beautiful and talented. I'd brush it off and tell him it was him that would get discovered for his angelic voice. Maybe we should go.

"What would we do about money?"

That's where his plan failed. He thought of everything else but money.

"I have some money saved up and if we run out I'll bring my guitar and you can sing for some more money." Maybe he did have it all figured out. I dug my feet in to the sand.

"How much money?"

"$100"

"That's not a lot Cole." I say honestly. The most that amount of money can do it buy us some food and maybe a bus ticket out of our town.

"Wait you have money too!"He shouts at me with his face lite up like a little kid.

"I have money?" I take it back he is crazy.

"Yeah I over heard my parents talking about it. Your dad has a lot of money in the house for you. Your mom doesn't know so if we take it no one will know."

"A lot of money. How much are we talking?"

"A couple thousand dollars." He say plainly. My mouth droppes to the floor.

"A couple thousand. Are you serious?"He noddes his head.

I stand up and walk towards him.

"Well than Cole Pendery I guess we are going to L.A aren't we." I smile up at him.

"Yes we are." He bends down and kisses me. Then pickes me up and spins me around. "We're going to California!" He yells.

"Shh you don't want my noise sister to hear you and try to stop us. Or worst. Come with us."

"Right we don't."

We walked back to the house hand in hand. My mind flashed back to last night. I stop dead in my tracks.

"Cole what about your dad?"

"He probably has a hang over and won't do anything in front of everyone."

He tuggs at my hand and pulls me torwards the house again.

"Hey you two. Where were you guys last night?"Cole's mom chirps.

"We went to the cove on the other side of the island and feel asleep there." Cole says as cool as a cucumbrr while I'm still shaking from the thought of his dad doing something to me and him. "There's a cove on this island?"She ask shocked. I nodded. "Wow I've been coming here for the longest time and never knew that."

"You should see. it's an amazing view if you climb up the hill. Maybe after we eat I can show you it." I smile relaxing my body and mind.

"I don't wanna wait if it's that beautiful."

"Now honey lets eat just a little and then we can see it." Cole's dad said sounding like a sweet loving man and not the crazy bastard he was last night.

We finished eating and were heading out the door. I took a quick sip of my oj and started walking to the cove.

"So let me get this straight instead of tanning and enjoying this vacation I have to go on a "hike to some cove hill thing where Dylan and Cole had sex." My sister said to my mom.

"Lilly that's nonsense why would your sister have sex with Cole." I couldn't believe my ear. My mother is really talking about that with my sister.

"Well what do you think they are gonna do when they stay out all night on a romantic island with not a lot of adult supervision?"

"Dylan could never get a guy like Cole they are just friends." My heart broke I knew my mom thought low of me but dang that hurt.

"But she likes him."
