Time: 1:00 PM
She does not like to be kept waiting; especially if she is alone holding a large vanilla chai in the middle of Central Park for approximately shall we say…forty minutes. The woman has been waiting for Kat and Jess, most probably helping the band members for the show. It was only hours ago she knew about the Christmas concert while they were still at her apartment after dancing and singing the tracks of Kat’s CD.
The three of them were sweat-soaked and breathless, Krista deciding to open her fridge and bring out three soda cans, Kat pulling the window up to let in cold air. As Katreena walks back to join the two of them drinking their sodas, her phone decides to ring. “Hello?”
Krista stands up, holding the can and playing the CD again but minimizing the volume this time. God, it still feels great.
“I’m here at Krista’s…we’re coming…yeah like, wait, Krista can come, right?..”
She turns her head when she heard her name from the conversation. Why was her name mentioned?
“I know, that’s the plan…oh you’ll see…haha, oh well…yeah see ya…bye.” Kat presses a button from her phone before looking at Jess with a devilish smile and her friend gleaming in response. At the same time they turn their heads to face the woman, making Krista to step slightly back and drinking the soda nervously. Krista knows that they are planning something for her, and she knows it is not going to be good. “I think there is a reason why you guys are here,” she says.
Her friend chuckles. “Yes there is.”
“And I know it is not going to be good.”
“Oh, mother, I think it is going to be good.”
“I mean I will now be able to like it.”
“No you are going to love it.”
“And that makes me all the more nervous.”
“Which means you are going to get dressed.”
“Now.”
“No.” Jessica frowns at this while Kat rolls her eyes. And that is not going to work. “You’re coming.”
“I said no.”
“Come on!”
Krista decides to take a step back for reassurance, firmly gripping her soda can. “No, and whatever you guys are planning you won’t make me.”
Her friends say her name again once more but the woman has decided to run as she tries to avoid them, causing a bit of chase going in her apartment. The woman dashes for her room but she was pulled and blocked by Kat, making Krista to bend down and try to bite her arm, causing her friend to jerk away from her in response. The woman then runs for the table as she pushes chairs so they could not enter, but the friends just blocked her way with Kat on her right and Jessica on her left. Her heart pounding, they decide to reach for her, but Krista crouches down and slides her way under the table and runs for the restroom. She finally gets inside and locks the door, taking a huge exhale of relief while they try to bang and hammer it with their fists to get her, yelling her name and pounding it again and again as Something ‘Bout This Time Of year plays on the stereo.
“Come on, Krista! You don’t even know what we are eve-
“I don’t care. I know it’s bad and I am not going.”
“God, just open the door, Krista.”
“No.”
“Jesus.”
