Days before Christmas: 4 Time: 8:09 AM
Krista sees Callum holding a white paper bag with a grin on his face. "I've got Chinese food!"
She stands up with her hands clasped together and walks toward him before he kisses her on the cheek. The man gives her a large, hot cup of noodles and some chopsticks from the bag, and they decide to eat while walking along the streets.
Callum decides to have their Christmas shopping together for the planned party at his house on the twenty-fourth. His colleagues would be there and so are his workmates, and it would be a very formal gathering with champagnes and dresses- a celebration for the elite. Krista told him about her plans for that day that she would be at Kat's house and would be Skyping with her family with her laptop, but the man was insisting and suggesting to her that she could use his TV and invite her friends, instead of going there.
They walk down , the snow on their feet as they watch the items sold inside the glass windows of the stores. Everyday more and more people buzz themselves back and forth, in and out boutiques and shops, Christmas cramming for their loved ones... like how they are doing right now.
He sees an item that struck him most at a shop selling watches and gives her the noodles he is eating before going inside. Krista heavily sighs...finally, and slurps the cup. She holds them with both of her hands like a salesgirl at a mall. Oh how she looks like an idiot.
"Krista?"
She turns her head from the voice and sees Jack smiling at her, the woman smiling in return. He slaps her back after letting go from the hug, while holding a black paper bag in his hand. "Goodness, look how our baby girl's grown."
She smiles. "Yeah, well. Can't say anything like that. You haven't changed a bit."
He chuckles and shrugs his shoulders, then notices the two cups of noodles the woman is holding. "You here alone?"
Oh Christ. She...gives a strained smile at him before answering. "N-no, I'm with someone."
"Really? Because if you weren't, I would be ditching you outta here. And then we could play video games at Zach's and cover him with make-up when he dozes off, and then he'll be screaming and yelling at us when he sees his face. Like old times' sake."
Krista laughs at this. "Too. Tempting" she says. And she means it. "But, I can't. I'm waiting for someone."
Jack decides to look behind her back and circle his head, looking. "Oh, who's she? Is she gorgeous?"
She gives a nervous laugh at this, and shifting her weight. Stupid noodles, tiring her arms like some robot. "No, he's a guy."
He makes a whistle hearing this and leans forward to whisper. "Is he a gorgeous guy?"
Oh she just wants to punch his arm, right now. And argh, stupid noodles. "I..well, he looks..." How does he look like? She turns her head to the window, and sees Callum smiling at the cashier when she holds out the small green paper bag towards him. "Umm...ah...I think I need to go."
"Go? Where are you going?"
"Oh, shopping. Christmas, remember?"
"Ah, right. Well, just bought a gift for my girlfriend. Hey wait, what happened at the Park?"
Shoot. "Park?" She turns her head and sees Callum smiling and talking with the cashier, holding the green bag with his left. Okay, there's more time. "From two days ago?"
"Yeah. Alex's been feeling down that night and's been looking at his guitar. But he's acting okay yesterday, I think? I'm meeting up with him right now."
Damn it, Alex. The night two days ago decides to play in her head. The walk. The confession. The stupid, maddening kiss they had, and...oh my God, it's all messed up. "Oh." She swallows the lump in her throat before speaking. "Well, actually that night there was this a bit of an...incident, that unexpect-
"You had a fight?"
She widens her eyes, shaking her head. "No! No! Of course not! There was no fight. There was just a teeny, itty, bitty-
Jack snorts. "You know, you saying that makes it...bigger and bigger. And sounds a bit miserable."
Callum steps outside with of the shop smiling, but his face begins to turn blank when he sees Krista talking to jack. He walks toward her and steps closer, taking his noodles from her hand, possessively wrapping his left arm on her waist. "Well, hello. Krista, who's he/"
She starts to cringe and close her eyes, trying to make him disappear. "Um, Callum this is-
"Jack" he says. "Krista's friend."
Callum smiles. "Nice to meet you, Jack. I'm Callum. Her boyfriend."
Jack's eyes widen at this and opens his mouth to say something, but decides to close it instead. "Oh, her boyfriend? That's...that's...Um, Krista I have to go now."
"Where are you going?" he asks. Jack slowly begins to walk away, with his face on. "I'm going to a friend's. Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas!"
The two of them watch Jack with his bag swinging as he paces down 71st Street, laughing at himself. Callum sighs. "Krista, I think you need to choose who your friends are."
She opens her mouth at this and pushes him away. "What do you mean 'choose your friends?' Well, I am, Cal."
"I don't think I like the kind of friends you have. That one over there, is making me have this bad feeling-
She can't take it anymore. "Well, those are my friends you are talking about and...you can't judge them! Neither can you judge or choose who I am going to be friends with! This is my li-
"Do not act like you're superior than I am, Krista. I'm far more-
"Who says anything about superiority? Callum, would you please stop and listen to your self, right now? I've had enough of you rambling again about thi-
He grabs her wrist and raises it, his eyes glaring holes at her. "Don't. You. Dare. You listen to me, Krista. I'm your boyfriend and I can do whatever I want. Don't you remember that I am the one who helps you pay your rent in your damned of an apartment and I'm the one who lets you not rot on the fucking streets? Now just drop it."
Time: 9:20 PM
Krista continues to see him flirting around with cashiers and waitresses while standing there with shopping bags in her hands. She's tired and irritated by the fact that they have been going around the city looking for gifts and he is wasting her time...flirting. She tries to tell him about it, but all she gets was some ranting and more possessiveness from him.
Hohoho. Merry Christmas, Krista.
