Comforting Cuddles

This was requested by Anonymous on tumblr, they requested Fluff Prompt #39 ("You're safe now, I'm here.") from a list on tumblr with Captain Rex, maybe after an intense battle where reader was in danger of some sort.

You shake as you walk through the halls of the Resolute, you've just been through a horrible battle. You lost so many men and almost died yourself.

You just got out of the medbay after being checked and are heading towards your room, you're emotionally and physically exhausted.

"Hey General L/n!" You turn to see your boyfriend, Captain Rex, running towards you. He has a smile on his face at seeing you're okay, until he sees how worn down and tired you look.

"Do you mind if I talk to you privately in your quarters?" He asks and you just nod, you can't speak. You both head to your quarters, Rex punches in the code for you and you both walk in. As soon as the door closes Rex starts taking off his armor, once it's all off he pulls you against him. You finally break down, unable to be strong anymore, you sob against your boyfriend, who holds you close.

"Shhh, I'm here, Cyare. I'm here." Rex whispers into your ear, he hates seeing you like this. "I... The battle was horrible Rex. I lost so many men..." He presses a kiss to your forehead as you start crying again. "You're safe now, I'm here, Cyar'ika."

Rex guides you over to the bed, sitting you down and walking over to the connecting refresher. He comes back out with a damp cloth, sitting down beside you. "What are you...?" You question but he just shushes you, he brings a hand up, turning your face towards him. He starts wiping all the grime, sweat and blood that had gathered there. You hum happily, feeling better. Rex finishes up, getting up and throwing the cloth in the refresher, he comes back in. "Is that better?" you nod at his question. "Much, thank you."

"No need to thank me, I know what it's like after a rough battle. Do you want to cuddle?" you nod, and Rex moves forward, wrapping his arms around you. He pulls you down onto the bed, pretty much wrapping his entire body around you. You cuddle into his chest, letting yourself relax against him, you listen to his heart beat. "I'm so lucky to have you, Rex." you whisper.

Rex glances down at you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I am even more lucky to have you, Cyar'ika. You're the best thing to ever happen to me." You smile at his sweet words, shimmying up a little in his arms and you press a kiss to his lips. "I love you, Rex." you tell him, laying back down and letting yourself start to drift off.

"I love you too, Cyare. Sweet dreams." he whispers, but you don't hear it, you've already fallen asleep. Rex chuckles when he realizes, pulling you even closer and allowing himself to drift off. He had already told Anakin to not disturb the two of you, Anakin owes him for all the times that Rex had covered for him and Padme anyway.
