[•3rd POV•]

It has been a week since Luna had settled into the Safe Haven. And in that week, she had gotten to know the teams that reside in the place from time to time. Though she specially has a closer friendship with the reincarnated adults since they can sympathize with each other.

But enough about that, after procrastinating and playing around with her new additional family, she finally had the time to properly unpack her stuff from her suitcase to her cabinets.

As she finished her clothes, she then moved to the bag of stuff she has, putting them down on the empty shelves or surfaces, or simply putting them in an empty spare cabinet. While she emptied the bag, she came across a black box that she knew wasn't there before.

She would've immediately assumed it was one of Christopher or Harvey's bloody pranks if it wasn't for the familiar handwriting on it that said "From R.".

The moment recognition sparked her bright green eyes, the quicker it dimmed in sadness at the memories that replayed in her mind.

'Why did he put this here?' She thought, opening the box with care as to see what was inside.

Her eyes squinted at the reflection of the sun as it hit the object, probably shouldn't have her bed be literally beside the window, but it is what it is. Even if she had the strength of a 100 men, she was too lazy to relocate the shit in her room.

Anyway, she took out whatever was inside the box, and examined it. Her eyes widen in mesmerization as she saw what the object was.

On her hand, hanged a silver necklace that had an amethyst teardrop shaped pendant, the sun reflected the jewel around her room, making it look like some kind of purple shades of disco.

"Wow..." She whispered breathlessly.

The purple really reflected her room like a chandelier, how Ray got his hands on these were beyond her, though she was grateful for his efforts to get her this.

A paper inside the box caught her eye, she moved her other hand to take it since she didn't want to let go of the necklace.

My dearest Luna,

I hope that when you're reading this, it means that you're not in great danger out there. I hope that they are really helping you, if they aren't, I swear on my life that I will find you and burn that place down. I got this necklace from Mama if you're wondering, she said HQ found it stuck in the storage room for some reason, given it to her as a present for being the best Mother. Though of course, we know Mama isn't one for jewelry, so she gave it to me. And we both know this kind of jewelry are for women, so I decided to give it to you. Think of it as an early birthday present.
Come home soon.

– Ray

Luna smiled warmly at the letter, feeling butterflies in her stomach as the thought of Ray writing this with a small smile on his face came into mind.

Damn was that actually cute to imagine.

Well then! If this was for her then, this was for her. She will now cherish it with her life and soul, forever will she make sure that it never breaks or even cracks.

Luna felt a tingling sensation as she hugged the necklace to her heart, some might've thought it was love that made her tingle, but in reality it was the newly awaken mana stored inside her. The pendant glowed a bright indigo color until it faded a few seconds after.

'I wonder what Ray's up to right now...'

Ray laid on his bed boredly as his tired eyes roamed about the room with no interest.

It was 3:12 am and he didn't feel sleepy at all, he actually felt like having some dark coffee right now. But if he left Mama would get mad and reprimand him, and he didn't want that. So he just decided to lay on bed spread out like a star fish, thinking about things an 8 year old doesn't usually think about...

Life.

What is life anyway? Are we only born to die in the end? Does life only think of us as tools to entertain the Gods above watching over them? Are they happy? Sad? Pity them for their predicament? If life was fair, then why were there children like them being forced to be eaten by man-eating monsters? Why can't people be reasonable? Do they lack common sense or something? Ray doesn't know, and he thinks that he wants it to stay that way. It might just give him a headache anyway.

Eh, who am I kidding. The author is probably just babbling bullshit so that they could hit the 1000 words mark and publish the chapter already.

(Well fuck, don't just call me out like that.)

Yet, it is true. No?

(.....)

That's what I thought.

And for the sake of entertaining the readers, Ray shall now do something that Ray would do.

Hit sleeping Emma on the face.

Smack.

"Urgh, uh, wha...?" The tangerine woke up.

"Hm? What's up?" Ray feigned innocence, giving his usual deadpan look.

"Huh?... I—uh, I thought I felt someone hit me." Emma muttered as she rubbed her forehead.

"Oh, must be a nightmare. Just go back to sleep."

"Erm, okay..." And she instantly did.

Meanwhile, Norman on the other side saw the whole scene play out. Why he was awake? Don't ask. Trust me. It's for your own good.

Smack.

"Gah! What the!?" Ray whisper shouted as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Sorry, there was a mosquito." Norman apologized (not), with a sus smile.

Smack.

"....."

"Don't worry, I'll kill it for you."

Smack.

Smack.

"Okay, I'm sorry! Damn simp." Ray muttered the last bit.

"S L E E P." Norman basically ordered.

"Take your own advice."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing."
