The guns start firing, and Luther screams "get down!" As we all duck, hiding under tables. I was stuck wedged between Klaus and Allison. The gunfire continues, rapid firing at everything around us. I hear screams, glass shattering, things falling. Reminded me of that night at the Academy.
"Who the hell are these guys?!" Diego screams out.
"Maybe they're here for Kenny's birthday!" Klaus yells out, making me snicker.
"No, I'm pretty sure they're here for us!" Luther yells back. I try to scan the room, looking for items I could throw. I remember my fucked up hand, looking down at the bandage. Shit. Lifting things that were heavy without using both my hands or even no hands to manipulate it was a task, but I knew I could do it. Diego leans over, throwing a knive at one of the guys, supposedly getting one. The lights go out, as the blacklight comes on, along with the party lights. Luther grabs a bowling ball, as do I, trying to lift it with my powers, struggling with using just my mind. I hold up one of my hands, making it easier to manipulate. I see Klaus look over, gunfire still going as he ducks back down. Luther gets up, throwing the Bowling ball, hitting one. I throw mine at the nearest one, sending it flying as it hits one right in the stomach, sending the guy backwards. We continue trying to throw stuff, me and Luther throwing bowling balls as Diego threw his knives. Klaus throws a birthday cake, hitting one in the face with it. We duck again.
"They're blocking the exit!" Klaus shouts out.
"So, what's the plan now, Luther?" Diego shouts, as Allison shoves me and Klaus to get our attention, as she points to the bowling lanes. Shit.
"Allison, you're a genius." I say, smiling at her.
"The lanes! Let's go!" Luther says, as we all run like hell, gunfire firing just below our feet, as we slide into the lane, bowling pins knocking down with us as we fall into the back rooms, running behind one another to get the hell out of there through a back door.
--
We make it to the Icarus Theater, running up the stairs as the orchestra plays. Shit, we were late. We almost make it, as Allison stops Luther, showing him a note. We all stop, I didn't wanna go in without them, we were a team again.
"Allison, I can't let you do that, alright? She's beyond reasoning." Luther says, assuming Allison wanted to talk to Vanya.
"You hear the music? It's started." Diego yells, pointing to the door.
"Do you honestly think that she's gonna listen? After everything that's happened?" Luther asks Allison, as she stares at him with determination.
"You know I hate to reason with Diego but he's right. It's T minus 20 minutes till she blows the earth up." I spit in annoyance, furrowing my eyebrows in frustration.
"We don't have time for this." Klaus whispers, looking behind him. Those guys too, they were probably on our asses.
"Okay." Luther says, after staring at Allison that entire time. She turns around, running up the stairs as we wait at the bottom of them.
"You're using her as a distraction, aren't you?" Diego says, looking at the halls infront of us at the top of the stairs.
"Our best chance to incapacitate Vanya. She'll thank us later." Luther says to him, as we start walking.
"So, what's the plan?" Klaus says, following.
"Uh, you wait out front." Luther says, as I keep walking. As much as I hated leaving Klaus out, he wasn't super useful in this situation, talking to the dead wasn't useful here.
"What?" Klaus says, sadened.
"Yeah, you're the lookout." Luther says, as we all walk away. We approach the backstage area, trying to get to her from all angles as a surprise when she was distracted, tackle her and difuse the bomb. Me and Diego look at each other, noding, Luther on the other side. We wait for her to be distracted by Allison, as we go in from the two sides, running at her. She notices too quickly, taking her violin bow, whiping it as it sends a giant blast, causing us to get blown back into the crowd, landing on the walkway, grunting. The audience screams, as they all get up to run out. Everyone evacuates, the orchistra still playing. I get up, as do Luther and Diego.
"Move, go!" Diego shouts, as we duck under some chairs, me on the farthest end with Luther and Diego.
"She's stronger than expected." Diego says, panting.
"Yeah." Luther says, as Allison throws a purse at him, giving him a 'what the hell was that?!' look. "Yeah, we're fine, thanks for asking." She gives him an angry look again, as he sighs. "Look, I almost lost you once, all right? I wasn't about to lose you again."
"Well, so much for the element of surprise. What else you got?" Diego says, Luther trying to think, before Allison bangs on the back of the hard seat, getting our attention, pretending to play the violin. "No shit, Allison. Tell us something we don't already know!" Diego groans back at her.
"She's talking about the violin." Luther says, looking over the seat with Allison. "it's her lightening rod. If we can take it from her and stop her from playing, we might have a shot." He finishes, as more gunshots ring out. Fuck, these guys again? Ugh when does it end. The orchestra finally stops playing, just the sounds of gunfire and Vanya's violin play in the air.
"What the hell happened to Klaus? He's supposed to be on lookout." Diego says, trying to stay as low as possible.
"Yeah, you surprised?" Luther yells out.
"What's with all the lollygagging?" Five says, appearing from a jump.
"Five! Get down!" Me and Luther yell out in unison, him ducking underneath a second set of chairs above ours.
"Five, what the-- I thought you bailed on us!" Luther yells out.
"I had an errand to run.. This is not good." Five says out, as I look at Diego in confusion.
"You know these guys?" Diego yells out.
'Yeah, I do." Five says back.
"And?" Diego questions, before I hear footsteps and see sets of feet.
"Well... we're screwed." Five says, as Diego throws some knives, killing a few that just came in. Klaus comes in, screaming something about Cha-Cha, not noticing the men who were just attacking us 30 minutes ago around him like a collosal dumbass.
"Klaus! Get down!" Luther shouts, as he ducks behind some seats. Five jumps, appearing ontop of one of the guys, killing a few of them by making the person he was ontop of shoot them. Suddenly, one of the guys gets ripped from the ground by a blue... hollogram? Then other, then another. Diego runs, going after what looked like Cha-Cha, fighting with her. After most of the gunfire stopped, we all stand up, seeing Klaus, with blue powers coming from his hands and what looked like... Ben? Was that Ben? "Holy shit." I breathe out.
"Oh my god. It's him. Ben." Luther says, as we all stare in amazement. Klaus can do something more than just talk to the dead. He smiles, waving us off as if it was nothing, as Ben dissapears. Diego walks back over, as we all look at him. "Oh, welcome back. Where were you?" Luther asks, as Diego brushes him off.
"Honouring a memory. So, how do you wanna end this thing?" Diego says, all of us looking over at Vanya, who was eminating a blue light, looking almost like a angel or something.
"We surround her. All right? We come at her from all angles." Luther says, as we all look at each other.
"So it's a suicide mission." Klaus says.
"Yeah, but one of us could get through. It's the only chance we've got." Five says to him, Klaus nodding.
"Are we all in?" Luther says, as we all nod in agreement. Fuck it. Even if I did die, at least I did it trying to save the world. Or if just me died, at least I saved the lives of billions. "All right. Allison?" Luther says, looking up at her. She shakes her head. Luther looks over at Diego. "Stage left." He points at himself. "Stage right. You guys take the front. Aleya try to take the back." He says, all of us running to our places. The walls and pillars start to crack, the building doing just what the Academy did. We were running out of time. I take my place behind her, looking at Luther and Diego. I shake my head, getting ready to run. What was left to loose? I had already almost lost everything. This team was all I had left. I feel my mind going through a million different things all at once, how the world was literally ending soon, if this didn't happen. My heart was beating through my chest, the bright light from Vanya felt like I was standing in pure moonlight, ready to take my final breaths if I had to.
"Now!"
