10 YEARSLATER
It was dawn. The sun crossed the dark curtains, illuminating the bodies lying on the bed. Although the sun struck the girl's face, she did not wake up, perhaps because of too much tiredness due to the eventful night just passed or maybe because she was used to having sun rays brighter than that.
Silence reigned in the room, you could only hear the light breathing of the two young lovers who had just fallen asleep. Suddenly, an annoying noise interrupted the silence that had just been created, thus disturbing the sleep of the two.
"Il telefono" the girl mumbled sleepily to the man next to her. (The phone)
"Non è il mio" the man said looking around, and then closed his eyes again "Penso sia il tuo" (It'snot mine. I thinkit'syours)
The girl opened her eyes with difficulty, put on a shirt she had found there on the floor in front of her, and started looking for her cell phone. It took her a while before she could find it in the middle of the clothes thrown on the floor, but it wasn't a problem because whoever was calling her did not want to give her a break.
"Pronto?" She asked. (Hello?)
"Carina, is that you?" A woman asked on the other side of the phone.
"Yes, who is this?" She asked, still sleepy.
"It's Pepper. You finally answered, I've been trying to reach you for hours"
"Pepper, how long!" Carina exclaimed, frightening the man with whom she had spent the night "I hope you enjoyed the gift I sent you yesterday. Sorry, I was supposed to call you, but the time zone is confusing me. You know it's only half past five in the morning here, I was asleep"
"I'm sorry I woke you up, but it's urgent" Pepper said.
"Hey Pepper, take it easy. Take a deep breath and speak slowly" she said, trying to reassure the woman.
She hadn't heard her so upset since the day she didn't decide to leave for Italy.
"It's about your dad, Carina" Pepper said and Carina sighed.
"Pepper, how many times have I told you--" she said, but Pepper cut her off.
"Your father is missing"
"Are you sure?" Carina asked skeptically, "You know what Tony is like, he must have gotten drunk and decided to go somewhere at the last minute"
"Unfortunately this is not the case, Carina" Pepper paused "Your father was kidnapped"
Silence fell on the other side of the phone. Carina did not answer, she did not know what to say. What did Pepper expect of her?
