The night had come to Malibu, the moon lit the waves of the sea.

Not far from there, on the coast, there was a huge house, in which a little girl lived. At that moment, the little girl was running along the hallway of the house, exalted by what awaited her the next day. In fact, a special day would have been tomorrow, a day of celebration and gifts awaited her for her eighth birthday.

"Carina!" Someone yelled.

The child rushed to her room, chased by a red-haired woman.

"Shouldn't you already be in bed, young lady?" The woman asked in a mock stern tone.

"But I can't sleep!" Carina exclaimed, "I'm too excited for tomorrow! I can't wait to celebrate!" She said enthusiastically, which made the woman laugh.

"Can't wait, huh? Then I'll tell you a secret" she said, lowering herself to the same height as the girl "If you go to sleep now, time will pass faster and the morning will come before you know it"

"What are we waiting for then!" Carina almost shouted for joy "Let's go to sleep!"

"All right, so we're gonna put on our pajamas and then we're gonna go to bed right now, okay?" The woman said, making the child nod enthusiastically.

"Tomorrow you'll have a fantastic day, all your friends will be there, you will see that you will have a lot of fun" the woman said smiling as she helped Carina put on her pajama shirt.

"Yeah. Everyone will come tomorrow"

"Will James come too?" The woman asked, hiding a smile. She knew how much talking about the boy embarrassed Carina. It could be said that James was her first crush.

"Of course he's coming!" Carina exclaimed aloud "I mean, he's my best friend, of course he's coming" she said blushing, trying to justify her behavior.

"Of course" the woman nodded, trying not to laugh.

After the woman finished helping Carina get ready for the night, she tucked her blankets in. She was going to turn off the light and go away, when the little girl called her slowly.

"Pepper?"

"What's going on, dear?" The woman asked worriedly, seeing the child's suddenly sad face.

"Do you think dad will be there tomorrow too?" she asked sadly.

The woman looked down, realizing why the child had suddenly become sad. Pepper didn't know what to say, no one was able to predict what Tony would do. But of one thing she was certain, she would have tried hard to get him to go to her daughter's party, even though she knew it would be an arduous undertaking.
