THREE YEARS LATER
"Best of luck," I said, hugging my best friend, April. "You don't know how happy I am for you.."
"I do." She said, holding my hands. These five years after high school didn't change our relationship- we were the same. Best friends; shared everything with each other.
And now my best friend, April, was going to be my sister-in-law.
"Hope you say the same in front of the minister," I teased. "April- I.. I am so happy."
She wrinkled her nose. "Just some more time, and we'll switch places."
I smiled. "You think so?"
"I know so."
----"And by the power vested in me by the state of New York," the minister said. I held my breath, and I could feel Logan stiffen next to me. He held my hand and squeezed it. "I pronounce you man and wife."
A huge grin appeared on Taylor's face, much like the grin he had when he was dancing with April during the prom. "You may kiss the bride."
Taylor and April smiled at each other- but I couldn't see what followed next. My eyes watered up and everything was a blur.
The next thing I knew, April was throwing her bouquet. Sadly, it landed feet away from me and one of April's friends caught it. Logan rubbed my shoulder as I cleared my face up and smiled at him. "They did it." He whispered in my ear, kissing my cheek gently.
"Yes, they did." I said. April and Taylor stepped off the stage and were walking on the aisle. They hugged a few relatives.
Taylor hugged someone who resembled him a lot. As I was right behind that man, I heard Tay say, "Dad, I made it. I made it with living with two women. Now I'm going to live with three."
Dad just smiled, displaying his poor sense of humor. "Good job." He said, simply. Taylor gave him a tight lipped smile and nodded at Logan. Logan nodded back at him.
April and I had decided to skip the post - wedding drama. I was in the wedding as the maid of honor, but also the groom's sister. I couldn't do both at the same time. April just smiled at me as she was hugging my mother. And before I could understand it, my brother and my best friend were married and off.
"Hey." Logan tapped on my shoulder and I came face to face to a very familiar face.
"My favorite bridesmaid." Lena greeted, pulling me into a short hug. "I hope I'm going to be your favorite bridesmaid too. Soon, soon, soon!"
She let go of me, and at a distance, I saw Sean and their daughter, Leah. "I don't understand." I said.
"You'll know soon enough." She whispered, turning and winking at her brother.
Before I could ask what she meant again, everyone turned to us and smiled. The warm smiles around shocked me. But the brightest smile in the room was someone else's.
There was this guy right in front of me- green eyes, messy hair. In the blink of an eye, the guy who was standing was now kneeling down on one knee.
I wanted to slap him, not even kidding. He was going to make me cry.
"Amy," he said, but shook his head. "I messed up. A - Lady", he rephrased. "I've been telling you for the past five years that I've not been good at this. Expressing my feeling isn't my forte. You're the feelings one in our relationship. But I want to be the ring one in this relationship; I want to be the one who proposes first."
It wasn't the perfect proposal speech, but it was better. I knew Logan- and he didn't need to be perfect; I wasn't. But I had never thought he'd propose to me in front of a crowd.
I never thought he would be the one to propose. I had always imagined myself on one knee and asking him to marry me while he just stood blushing and probably making fun of me.
"Will you marry me?" He asked, his green eyes looking better than ever. He seemed to have tears in them, but that just added to his beauty.
"Yes." I said, without looking at anyone. Everyone around us cheered. I threw myself on him as soon as he stood up. "Thank you."
"I love you." He said, kissing my hair. "And I want you to meet some people."
----That evening, Logan took me to a restaurant. The same restaurant Lena had invited us to. The Miller family apparently had a favorite restaurant.
The table was booked for five. As we arrived, there were three people already seated on our table. They were smiling at each other. "That's my broken family." He said.
There was a woman and two men. The woman looked just like Lena- and Logan. She was laughing and talking to both the men. One of the men, I assumed, was her current husband.
Logan cleared his throat at them. They instantly stopped talking and stood up. "Mom, Dad," he said. "And Paul, of course. Meet my fiancée, Amy."
The woman pulled me into a hug. "Hi, Amy, I'm Logan's mother. It's so nice to meet you finally."
April was right, Lena was right. Soon I was going to be in a wedding gown which spread on the floor. I would walk on the aisle and take my place next to Logan. My bridesmaids would be my friends, laughing and giggling as Logan and I would read our vows.
Five years ago, I had asked myself a question- what else did I need? Well, I needed this. With Logan, I believed, I could never get full of things.
It was love. The best kind of love. It was the best of love.
